ABOUT THE POSITION: Under general supervision of the Counseling Services Supervisor, performs the below duties and responsibilities:

The employment standards for the Social Services Specialist II are: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree, plus two years of professional social work experience.
Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree, plus three years of professional social work experience. A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Contingent upon the area of assignment, some positions within this class may require specific certification(s) prior to employment and/or the ability to acquire necessary certification(s) within a specified time period following employment. The certifications are identified in the position description and employment advertisement .
UNDERFILL REQUIREMENTS:
This position may be underfilled as an Social Services Specialist II (Grade S23; $$57,384.29 - $95,640.27 Annually). The employment standards for the Social Service Worker II are: The employment standards for the Social Service Worker II are: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree, plus two years of professional social work experience. Candidates appointed to these positions at the Social Service Worker II grade level will be eligible for a non-competitive promotion to the Social Service Worker III grade level upon successful completion of the underfill agreement.
Underfill candidates must be able to meet the minimum qualifications of the Social Services Specialist III within two years of the job announcement's closing date of 06/10/2022.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
None.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background and a Child Protective Services check to the satisfaction of the employer.
This position is considered essential personnel and will be required to report to work during times designated countywide as approved for unscheduled leave regardless of the emergency situation (i.e., weather, transportation, other disaster).
All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs may be subject to a weekly testing requirement. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment. Ability to use automated technology to access, input, retrieve, and process information. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. - Provides individual, group, and family therapy to adults and children affected by domestic or sexual violence, stalking, or human trafficking
- Performs assessments and develops treatment plans for providing services, to include crisis intervention, stabilization, and short-term treatment with an emphasis on intervention and prevention and appropriate referrals for continuing care
- Provides case consultation for other service providers
- Provides hospital accompaniment as requested by survivors of domestic and sexual violence
- Performs Counseling Services duties including community and professional training, volunteer training and supervision, intern supervision, meetings with professionals in the community, hotline coverage, and scheduled on-call overnight availability for crisis response
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the department and/or division

- Master’s degree in a field related to counseling, social work, psychology, or marriage and family therapy
- At least 8 months of experience directly providing psychotherapy specifically to treat trauma
- Demonstrated experience in broadly addressing the impacts of domestic or sexual violence
- Completed and applied professional training in a trauma-specific treatment modality
