Are you a creative, passionate, and results-driven student interested in community outreach and event planning? The AARP Office of Volunteer Engagement is looking for you! Our team creates and executes various projects to improve the lives of people as they age and help to build a better tomorrow for future generations by engaging volunteers in AARP's mission. We'll challenge you to think and work innovatively on real-world projects. AARP is committed to your growth and cultivating your continued learning and development. This paid internship has an anticipated start date of July 2022 and will continue to the end of the year.

Responsibilities

  • Work with staff and volunteer leaders to recruit and engage volunteers in several programs at AARP
  • Apply strategic, analytical, and creative thinking to help promote policy issues on family caregiving, health and welfare, and retirement security
  • Engage in the communications strategies to support volunteers and their related programs
  • Help manage the onboarding, orientation, and training of volunteers as they engage with AARP programs and activities

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
  • Must be a self-starter and adaptable with the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Exceptional verbal/written communications skills
  • Familiarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plus
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus
  • Teleworking position


Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
