Duties

  • You will provide customer training on hardware, software and related processes.
  • You will provide advice and recommendations on hardware and software administration.
  • You will apply information security/information assurance policies, principles, regulations and executive orders to include firewalls, host and client access, file permissions, and user accounts.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
  • Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
  • In addition to the experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Diagnose and resolve complex problems to interpret/explain IT guidance and policies; 2) Identify possible causes of degradation of hardware and software performance and initiate actions needed to mitigate; 3) Develop, implement and coordinate activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore hardware and software services and capabilities; and 4) Monitor and evaluate hardware and software compliance with IT security requirements.

    Physical Demands
    The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, climbing, lifting, pushing, balancing, kneeling, or craw ling. Also requires lifting of moderately heavy hardware and equipment, up to 40 pounds. Items in excess of 40 pounds will not be lifted without assistance. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.

    Work Environment
    The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. Some employees may occasionally be exposed to uncomfortable conditions in such places as research and production facilities.
