WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As an Supervisory Public Health Analyst - Director, you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to optimize business results and customer experience by:

1.Committed to working agency wide to ensure policies, programs and services are aligned with the principle of recovery and recognize the value of individuals with lived experience.

2.Promoting involvement of people with lived experience and to ensure policies, programs and services are guided by the principle or recovery.

3.Support the implementation and evaluation of all initiatives that provide resources to states for recovery support services.

4. A recovery-oriented system of care is a coordinated network of community-based services to organize and manage multiple services, supports and systems to deliver person centered care building on the resilience of individuals, families and communities.

5.The Office of Recovery was established to ensure SAMHSA's commitment that recovery-oriented care and recovery support systems are available to anyone experiencing mental health or substance use challenges.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Basic Qualifications: Basic Requirements for all Supervisory Public Health Analyst - Director Series, 0685 positions require that you demonstrate specialize experience in each of the following five competencies:
  • Help evolve and sharpen the Office's overarching vision for recovery from mental illness and substance use disorder.
  • Supervise day-to-day team operations.
  • Prepare and present recommendations for organizational structure, outlining personnel requirements to accomplish assigned tasks and functions.
  • Managing Office priorities in collaboration with Centers and Offices across the agency.
  • Work closely to solicit input and feedback from external stakeholders.

    AT THE GS-15

    Specialized Experience: To qualify for this Supervisory Public Health Analyst-Director position at the GS-15 level, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-14 level in the federal service. Examples of qualifying experience include the following types of tasks performed on a regular and recurring basis:

    1. Subject matter expertise in behavioral health and recovery oriented systems of care as well as lived experience with mental and/or substance use disorders.

    2. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

    3. Overseeing and supervising a team of professionals.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
