Job Description

The Washington Post is hiring an audience growth specialist to explore and lead off-platform audience expansion opportunities for Advice content. The successful candidate will work with senior managers and across multiple teams to establish a model for collaboration across the company that fosters audience growth.

This person, who will be on the Advice team in Features, will be responsible for shaping a strategy to introduce Post Advice content to new audiences and identify potential brand collaborations, partnerships and business ventures. The initial focus for the person in this position will be continued growth of Carolyn Hax's reach and brand. Carolyn Hax is one of The Post's most beloved voices, whose daily column and weekly chat have become a ritual for countless readers. As The Post explores the possibility of adding additional personalities in the Advice space, the audience growth specialist will also help identify them and lead their off-platform audience strategy.

The successful candidate will have at least three to five years of experience in:
  • Outreach and relationship-building; identifying potential collaborations, partnerships and business ventures (e.g., platform partnerships, branded consumer products, etc.).
  • Managing strategy and content for social media accounts.
  • Producing content in multiple formats (e.g., books, audio, video, etc.) to deepen connections with readers.
  • Managing complex responsibilities requiring considerable judgment and initiative.
  • Interpreting objectives, setting milestones and timelines, prioritizing tasks, and allocating resources.

This position is based in our Washington newsroom and is not eligible for remote work.

The Post strives to provide its readers with high-quality, trustworthy news and information while constantly innovating. That mission is best served by a diverse, multi-generational workforce with varied life experiences and perspectives. All cultures and backgrounds are welcomed.

Candidates should upload a résumé and cover letter to our jobs portal. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled, but those received by 06/06/2022 will be prioritized. All application materials can be uploaded to the same field. The cover letter should be addressed to Interim Features Executive Editor David Malitz, Deputy Features Editor Mitch Rubin and Managing Editor Krissah Thompson.
