Position Information

The Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) is seeking year-round Temporary Student Assistants for the Teen Entrepreneurial Amusement Management (T.E.A.M.) program to assist with program activities and/or operations. The T.E.A.M. program provides leadership and entrepreneurial training for youths ages 14-18 and recreational services, including inflatables/moon bounce operations, balloon artists and face painters, to the public and within Arlington County.

Job duties:

  • Delivery Assistant (delivering, setting up & taking down the moon bounces);
  • Inflatables/Moon Bounce Attendant;
  • Face Painter;
  • Balloon Artist (creating balloon art sculptures);
  • Ensuring equipment and space utilized for events and/or in the performance of work assignments are clean and orderly; and
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

The Ideal candidate will possess:

  • Excellent customer service skills, good conduct, initiative, responsible, and demonstrates integrity;
  • Positive communication skills, including the ability to relate to the public in a professional manner;
  • Ability to work as a team member and flexible when work assignments change at the last minute; and
  • Reliability, such as showing up to work on time and staying until the assignment is complete.

Selection Criteria
Minimum: Must be currently enrolled in High School (between 14-18 years of age). Applicants must be at least 14 years old to be hired.

Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Knowledge of related DPR events; and
  • Artistic capability, including balloon artist and/or face painting.

Special Requirements
Staff will be required to:

  • Attend monthly meetings and 16 hours of training per year;
  • Complete TEAM Training (provided by employer);
  • Provide negative TB results or submit to a TB screening;
  • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of related DPR events (training provided); and
  • Demonstrate artistic capability in the area of assignment (i.e., Balloon Artist - knowledge of at least 6 different balloon art sculptures. Training provided.)
