Job Details

Dewberry Engineers Inc. is seeking a Team Lead for the Coastal & Riverine Engineering and Modeling (CREM) Team within the Resilience Solutions Group. CREM supports a variety of different water resources projects including flood hazard modeling, flood risk assessment, and storm water management for Federal, state, local, and commercial clients across the United Sates. This position offers an excellent opportunity for mid-level water resources engineers looking to take the leap into a leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 8-12 water resources and coastal engineers
  • Assist in interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching interns and engineers
  • Oversee the skill development and career advancement of staff
  • Monitor progress against project scope, schedule, budget, and quality; allocate resources as required to meet milestones
  • Perform, review, manage, and oversee a variety of fluvial, pluvial and coastal hazard and risk analysis
  • Training, coaching, and mentoring junior staff
  • Developing innovative and technical solutions for successful delivery of engineering projects
  • Providing support in water resources and resiliency aspects of multi-disciplinary projects for integrated water resources and watershed master planning
  • Writing and reviewing technical reports and communicating results to clients
  • Contribute to business development, proposal writing and growing the coastal and riverine engineering practice


Required Skills & Required Experience

Required Skills:

  • A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in H&H analysis and modeling
  • Experience with FEMA's Risk MAP, and the National Flood Insurance Program
  • Experience in 1D and 2D, steady and unsteady H&H modeling
  • Proficient in GIS, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience in mentoring junior engineering staff


Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency in SWMM, PCSWMM, or XP-SWMM
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Masters or Ph.D. in water resources engineering
  • Experience in modeling levee/dam failure analysis
  • Experience in resilience analysis, sustainability and green infrastructure
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)
  • Experience in water quality modeling
  • Experience in storm water management design
  • Experience in business development and proposal writing


Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
