Dewberry is seeking an attentive, organized, and motivated individual to fill the role of Geospatial Technology Manager who will provide multipurpose support to three main areas within Dewberry's Geospatial and Technology Services group: Business Development, Project Management, and Production out of our Fairfax, VA or Denver, CO office.

Responsibilities

Supporting Production
  • Support the development of new data acquisition and processing procedures and methods
  • Support development of machine learning tools and practices to advance data processing and analytics
  • Support Dewberry's elevation-derived hydrography program
  • Perform calibration, AT reviews, ortho processing support, topographic and bathymetric Lidar, hydrography, QC, software troubleshooting
  • Other technical support and troubleshooting as required

Supporting Project Management
  • Support PMs for technical aspects of project setup and ongoing management
  • Liaison to acquisition partners and surveyors including QC of source data
  • Helping with presentations to clients

Supporting Business Development - (Directly or in support of other Project Managers)

Activities may include:
  • Develop pipeline and business development action plan for supporting business development activities
  • Engage perspective clients to try and win project awards specifically in state/local/commercial market subsegments and for services such as remote sensing, GIS, hydrography, and lidar derived applications
  • Create presentations and present to potential clients
  • Create and perform technical demonstrations
  • Create demo data sets
  • Attend workshops and conferences as a presenter/exhibit demo person
  • Support estimating and proposals for Remote Sensing/Mapping Projects
    • Develop and maintain estimating SOP including locations of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and proposal templates
    • Help decipher and/or develop project specifications
    • Work with Project Manager (PM) to corral necessary inputs from technical staff as well as subcontractors
    • Work with PM and other technical staff to help develop WBS, pricing, and schedules
    • Help PM with proposal documentation and development
    • Track sub-contractor tasks, selection or application criteria, and performance

  • Bachelors' Degree or equivalent years of experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the geospatial profession preferably in the role of project management, production management, technology support, and/or business development
    • Possesses sound knowledge of Remote Sensing technology specifically involving imagery, lidar, hydrography
    • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal relationship, and managerial skills
  • Outgoing, confident, patient, and has a strong virtual and in-person presence/professional tone of voice to fit the role of a facilitator as needed
  • Ability to create concise, clear, and compelling briefing materials and polished deliverables within tight timelines and for multiple audiences
    • Possesses a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite programs including Outlook, Project, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint
  • Technical proficiency with currently available virtual meeting platforms (MS Teams, Zoom, Google, Facebook, WebEx, etc.)

Other Required Attributes
  • Ability to support Business Development activities for remote sensing, GIS, and related technologies and maintain strong client relationships
  • Ability to share project experiences/technology solutions/information to clients, colleagues, and others through the development of blogs, articles, videos, ID posts, and conference presentations
  • Maintains strong knowledge of client/agency programs, rules and regulations and experience completing work in/for various federal agencies, as well as for state, local and commercial clients
  • Ability to work independently and perform on-the-fly problem solving as well as part of a remote, multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work within a team environment
  • Able to travel when necessary to client sites or other Dewberry offices

Beneficial Attributes
  • Possesses or working towards GISP, ASPRS and/or other related certifications
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of the specifications and production processes for geospatial data, services, and application development
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of GIS technology and services, including ESRI's Enterprise GIS Suite
  • Is familiar with open source GIS technology and services
  • If applicable to the project or program, currently holds or can obtain a security clearance at the appropriate level


Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
