Duties

This position is located in an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) with responsibility for the performance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, systems, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing. Perform duties and has responsibilities understood under the military designation of Crew Chief which involves full maintenance responsibility for a required minimum number of aircraft as determined by type of aircraft.

As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC - Title 32, WG-8852-8/10, you will:

WG/08 - assist a higher grade mechanic in accomplishing maintenance and repair of both fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

WG/10 - be responsible for the performance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, system, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing.

Qualifications

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the DC Army National Guard.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: You must meet the minimum military rank as specified in this announcement. The National Guard's full-time support program requires that all military technicians are members of the National Guard and are appointed to full-time positions which correspond to their military assignments. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
FOR WG-08: Must possess at least Twelve (12) months' of experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.

FOR WG-11: Must possess at least Eighteen (18) months' possess at least Eighteen (18) months' of experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. MANAGEMENT HAS THE RIGHT TO SELECT AT EITHER THE WG-08 OR WG-11 LEVEL.
