Assistant Director, ADVANCE Academic CoachingThe George Mason University ADVANCE Department, Academic Affairs invites applications for Assistant Director, ADVANCE Academic Coaching. This work includes cross-institutional strategic planning, negotiating policies and practices, responsibility of budget development and planning, overseeing program marketing, recruitment, student services, and assessment.Responsibilities:Reporting to the Director of ADVANCE, the Assistant Director position leads all aspects of Academic Coaching services for ADVANCE NOVA students;Supervise team of Academic Coaches who serve as primary academic and success coach support for ADVANCE students enrolled at NOVA;Manage and monitor coach caseload and student oversight and serve as initial point of contact for elevated student issues related, but not limited to, student academic progress, academic advising, and student conduct and student of concern cases;Have a thorough understanding of the role of the ADVANCE Academic Coach and be able to assist, as needed, with all Academic Coach duties;In partnership with the ADVANCE Director, develop retention, progression, and matriculation metrics for the ADVANCE program;Monitor student success and progression through the use of NOVA SIS, Navigate, Mason Salesforce, and other student success and progression systems and resources;Develop and implement student success strategies and resources that support students and contribute to the achievement of program metrics;In partnership with the ADVANCE Director, develop new policies and procedures related to ADVANCE student services;Ensure ADVANCE Academic Coaching services' practice, policies, and procedure align with and abide by those of both NOVA and George Mason University (Mason);Partner with Mason SSC to coordinate Success Coach training for new Academic Coaches as well as coordinate ongoing quality assurance training for all existing Academic Coaches;Partner with NOVA college-wide transfer office to ensure alignment with the overall direction of ADVANCE academic coaching services; andPartner with Mason to ensure a successful handoff and transition from the ADVANCE Academic Coaching team to the UL SSC coaching team as well as the Mason academic advising community.Required Qualifications:Minimum Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required;Knowledge of higher education student services, student development theory, and coaching and advising methodologies;Demonstrated effectiveness in managing academic student success programs and services;Familiarity with Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) software, database software and student information systems;Demonstrated written and oral communication skills as well as strong student service orientation required;Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team;Ability to analyze problem situations, identify feasible solutions, and present recommendations in a concise, logical, and systematic manner;Demonstrated commitment to and sophisticated understanding of issues affecting the academic achievement and retention of students from diverse backgrounds; andCandidate will have the ability to successfully navigate decentralized and political environments across two institutions.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with community college and/or transfer students; andExperience with or demonstrated knowledge of academic advising, orientation, disability services, veterans services, career services, student involvement, and student rights and responsibilities.
