Health Equity Lead Nurse Practitioner ARIEThe George Mason University, Student Health Services Department invites applications for a Health Equity Lead Nurse Practitioner position. SHS provides primary care services and health promotion to eligible students at Mason, including but not limited to initial and follow up assessment, history taking, physical exam of patients, utilization of differential diagnosis, appropriate interventions, consultations and referrals as indicated, and basic emergency treatment and stabilization. Staff provide services to faculty, staff, and visitors on an as needed basis. SHS operates its main clinic on the Mason Fairfax Campus and smaller clinics on the Mason Square (Arlington) and SciTech Campuses (Prince William).About the Position:The Health Equity Lead NP will lead the SHS Health Equity efforts and work with SHS leadership team to enact and evaluate changes to improve health equity. The Health Equity Lead NP will also provide direct patient care as an integral member of our provider team.Responsibilities:Chair the SHS Health Equity Committee;Lead the development of policies and practices that promote the elimination of health disparities between student populations;Lead the development of policies and practices that promote an inclusive healthcare environment;Lead the development of processes to assess progress towards the SHS health equity goals;Supervise a Graduate Assistant;Provide direct patient care as a staff provider, including but not limited to the following:Assess and manage a wide variety of acute and chronic primary care problems;Perform indicated procedures as defined in the Request for Clinical Privileges;Perform, order, interpret and manage laboratory results and radiological studies;Participate in collaborative management of mental health patients;Serve other roles (e.g. other committee memberships) at SHS as appropriate;May provide weekend coverage as needed; andParticipate in professional capacity at University sponsored programs and events.Required Qualifications:MSN from an accredited school of nursing;Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program;Certification as an NP;Valid Virginia NP license;Valid Virginia RN license;DEA registration eligible;Considerable (generally three (3)+ years) clinical experience; andDemonstrated effective communication and problem-solving skills.
