Per Diem Food Srvs-Cafeteria 110 Irving Street NW Dietary/Food Services Day Shift with rotating weekend 0.00 Responsible for the preparation of quality foods for patients, employees, and guests. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION High school degree or GED diploma is required, but a minimum of 3 years of directly relevant job-related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement. Requires the ability to read, write and perform basic addition and subtraction. Requires the ability to comply with basic oral and written instructions. Required Certification, Registration, and/or Licensure None for this position. EXPERIENCE From six to twelve months experience required: cooking, baking, or other institutional food preparation control experience exhibiting some basic knowledge of hot and cold foods, simple modified diet principles, and the requirements of sanitation and food handling. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assembles all food/non-food items necessary for usage during shift. * 2. Cooks/bakes food for meal service according to the day's menu, ensuring the quality assurance of the item prepared regarding appearance, taste, and temperature. Prepares menu items in accordance with forecasted or tallied quantities and follows established departmental recipes. * 3. Ensures food is prepared prior to customer service meetings prior to the meal. Documents quantity and disposition of leftovers in accordance with departmental policy. * 4. Operates and maintains departmental equipment in a safe, orderly, and efficient manner. Informs supervisor of malfunctioning, damaged, and/or unsafe equipment. 5. Maintains work areas and equipment in clean, neat, organized and sanitary manner. Completes special and/or detailed cleaning projects as assigned. Disposes of trash and obvious clutter as necessary. 6. Assists with the orientation of new staff members by demonstrating the basic duties of the job. 7. Attends in-services and other departmental meetings and training sessions as required, including all line up meetings.
