Tech Incubator Operations Manager

As a Tech Incubator Operations Manager at Capital One, you will be part of an innovative team responsible for creating and enhancing processes that support our technology areas and deliver excellence to our customers each and every time. In this position you will hold primary responsibility for successfully managing the operations of a portfolio of student experience programs for Capital One, specifically at the University of Maryland, College Park.

An ideal candidate would have an understanding of the delivery of projects and initiatives within a large organization as well as leading successful collaborative engagements with external partners. This person will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to change within an evolving technical environment. This includes student internships and programs as part of our recruitment and hiring strategy, successfully executing sponsored research and coordinating with applied research projects, and demonstrating successful strategic outcomes for our partners, sponsors, customers, and stakeholders.

General Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility for all aspects of student-focused programs and experiences, including but not limited to an on-campus undergraduate internship, a graduate level internship that may be on premises or remote, and other university engagements such as capstone project coordination or event planning and facilitation.
  • Act as liaison between student- and university-based teams and internal teams to deliver the best experiences possible for everyone involved in our range of programs
  • Lead communication workstreams, including sourcing of data and information needed to effectively promote and advance the work of our programs, in coordination with the broader initiatives of Capital One's work in machine learning and applied research
  • Socialize programs internally and externally to stakeholders and customers, including building slideshows and other written/spoken content

  • Manage three cohorts per year of the Tech Incubator undergraduate student internship program for University of Maryland-College Park students seeking software engineering experience
  • Collect data and information, use analytics and reporting skills to provide transparency to senior leadership and executives about program metrics and impacts
  • Track and resolve process challenges and proactively partner with other teams quickly and effectively respond
  • Develop and maintain formal process/project documentation for long-term sustainable success
  • Manage administrative and oversight responsibilities for interns including but not limited to training, compliance, performance reporting, and onboarding/offboarding functions
  • Serve as primary contact and liaison for internal teams in successfully managing the Tech Incubator office space including collaboration with workplace management team, internal tech and office supply teams, HR and security teams, and others as appropriate

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 2 years of Program, Project or Process Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of Project or Process Management experience
  • 1+ year of experience with Tableau
  • 1+ year of experience with Jira
  • 1+ years of experience working with technical and/or engineering project teams
  • 1+ years of experience with academic program management
  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
