Role description: This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Construction Inspector, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA / QC and report documentation, on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment, power generation, manufacturing facilities or other heavy construction projects. Inspector will report to a Construction Manager and may lead other inspectors in completing tasks and providing regular updates on daily construction activities. Role accountabilities: * Observes and inspects construction work performed by contractors, performs punch list inspections, reviews drawings and specifications and other technical documents, prepares detailed daily activity and progress reports and participates in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews. * Maintains quality assurance requirements and approaches and monitors code compliance issues. * Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections. * Reviews submittals and other construction documents and recommends technical solutions. * Regularly attends and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates and project site coordination meetings. * Monitors and documents contractor resource utilization (labor, materials and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work and assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes. * Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes. * Maintain Payment Quantity documentation. * Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities. * While performing daily inspections, inspector will be required to ensure Arcadis' project safety guidelines are being met. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Experience: Required Qualifications * 5 years of construction inspection experience OR an advanced degree in-lieu of experience * Preferred civil / utility project type experience. Key Skills and Attributes: * Experience with construction inspection activities minimum. Preferred civil and utility experience on heavy civil construction projects. * Strong oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to analyze and organize vast amounts of data. * Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to problems, along with a high level of math aptitude. * Ability to multi-task several priorities and possess solid time management skills. * Proficient in MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint and Outlook). * Position requires employee to work year-round in various weather conditions, in potentially dangerous surroundings, on different shift hours and they must have the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Preferred Qualifications * 8+ years of civil/utility construction inspection experience. * NASSCO ITCP / PACP is a big plus. * ACI or NICET certification is a big plus. * OSHA 10 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training. * Ability to understand and speak Spanish. * Active participation in a regional or national professional association.
