We have a proven track record driving results for some of the largest digital asset-focused hedge funds, quant funds, family offices, VC's, market makers and exchanges.Join Our TeamGenesis is expanding to solve some of the toughest challenges in digital asset financial markets.About This Role - Director, Regulatory Affairs/Government Relations & Public Policy (DC/NYC)Genesis is hiring an experienced team member who will work with both the Legal and Marketing functions to lead the company's government relations efforts in Washington, DC, or New York, NY. The individual will be responsible for developing the company's public policy positions, crafting and executing a strategy to implement those positions, and building and maintaining relationships with lawmakers, regulators, and other stakeholders in the policymaking community.Primary ResponsibilitiesRepresent Genesis in its membership of industry advocacy groups and develop comprehensive public policy positions on behalf of the Genesis;Author advocacy materials to explain public policy issues and company positions;Develop and implement Genesis's advocacy and lobbying strategy;Maintain a regular presence on Capitol Hill, both through formal meetings and informal networking opportunities, as well as relevant regulatory agencies;Follow congressional committee hearings and markups, Congressional Blockchain Caucus events, SEC, CFTC, and FinCEN regulatory hearings, and other public policy briefings related to cryptocurrency policy;Speak at policy-focused events to educate the policymakers and the industry about company positionsCoordinate Genesis's New York policy initiatives and align them with corporate mission-related activitiesLiaise with the company's lobbyists and report to management on their activitiesRequirementsFive to ten years of experience as a Capitol Hill staffer or at a relevant federal agency (SEC, CFTC, Treasury, etc.), or, alternatively, federal experience lobbying in technology and/or financial services;Understanding of policy making process, including legislative, executive, and judicial branch processes;Creative thinker with the capability to develop innovative public policy solutions for a fast-growing and evolving industry;Ability to effectively harmonize public policy and mission-related objectives;Strong communicator, able to relay complex public policy positions in a manner that is easy to understand;Exceptional writer with the ability to explain complex public policy issues in a language that can be understood by regulators, Congress, and the general public;A demonstrated interest in, and understanding of, cryptocurrencyFirm grasp of the financial services regulatory framework, including proposed regulation and legislation; legal background a plus;Detail-oriented individual, able to drill down into the details of laws, regulations, and legislation and explain these details to others.Personal AttributesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong relationship- building and inter-personal skillsCapable of handling multiple projects in short timeframePragmatic advisorDriven to achieve practical solutions facilitating business yet adequately protect against riskWillingness and enthusiasm to learn and take on responsibility for matters beyond core expertise.Collaborative attitude, measured ego, initiative, can-do attitudeBenefits100% Premium Coverage for Medical, Dental, & Vision for you and your dependents Flexible Spending Accounts, Health Savings Accounts, Tax-Free Transit benefits, & other supplemental benefits availableFlexible time offGenerous Parental Leave Why GenesisGenesis is dedicated to creating best-in-class infrastructure for institutional investors, developing advanced products that lower barriers, increase profitability and broaden access.
