Have a look at our team and read through our blog posts to learn more about our values and to discover if Mediavine is the place for you!Position Title & Overview:The primary duties of the Software Engineering Manager are to facilitate proper engineering execution of Product goals and to foster a healthy culture where engineers are given their best opportunities for success, are routinely receiving feedback about their work and are challenged to grow.Essential Responsibilities: Working with the Director of Engineering, develop and manage resource planning by:Communicating with Tech Leads to anticipate hiring needsWorking with talent acquisition to lead in the selection of new talent Assisting with onboarding; ensuring that new engineers are placed on the appropriate teams, provided proper tools, given introductions to projects and briefed on departmental values and best practicesJoining new hires in their rotations of team-based orientationsPrioritize time to ensure adequate focus on both performance management and professional development by:Conducting 30/60/90-day reviews for new hires to set them up for successConducting regular 1:1s to acknowledge successes, surface questions and/or concernsProviding avenues for additional training, upon request or if needed due to project changes or performance concernsInitiate performance improvement plans when needed, managing goals and outcomes Conducting annual evaluations to assess performance and acknowledge achievements and/or areas for growth Managing leave requests to allow for necessary time away and work/life balance while also ensuring sufficient resource coverage to meet established timelines Lead team in delivering the product by:Ensuring the team is working toward timely execution of the goals that were agreed upon with their Product ManagerCollaborate with other Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Technical Leads, and Software Engineers across the organization to deliver a comprehensive solution for SRE discipline and set effective SLOs/SLIs and error budgets for all services.Working to ensure the engineers' vision of features and expectations are aligned with Product's vision and expectationsAssisting in sprint planning and grooming/decomposing sessionsAssisting Product Manager(s) in creating technical specifications for new features, with the help of an appropriate Technical Lead or ArchitectMeeting regularly with your team's Product Managers and Tech Leads, facilitating a healthy, communicative relationship between all partiesModel effective leadership by:Organizing virtual and/or in person opportunities for team building Acknowledge and celebrate both individual and team successes Caring deeply about the team and be fully invested in their success, let that show through all of your interactionsRequirementsApplicants must be based in the United StatesThe deadline for internal applicants is April 22, 2022You Have:7+ years of progressive experience in software engineering roles3+ years of experience leading technical/engineering talentExperience working with Site Reliability Engineers or DevOps teams Experience supporting infrastructure and services in cloud environments; AWS requiredExperience in leading software projects using Agile methodologiesExperience working closely with product management Experience managing geographically distributed remote teamsExperience being hands-on technically; with a deep passion and curiosity for technologyExcellent written, verbal and presentation skills are requiredHighly motivated, highly collaborative and highly inclusiveStrong desire to innovate, grow, and learn as the industry continually evolvesBonus points for experience in one or more of the following technologies:Node.jsTypeScriptBash or other scripting languagesKubernetes, Docker, Fargate, ECSBenefitsRemote work environmentTravel opportunities (remember those!?)Comprehensive benefits including 401k, Health, Dental, and Vision insuranceLearning allowanceGenerous Vacation/Time off policiesAdditional side benefits such as home-office upgrades, tuition reimbursement, paid gym memberships and wellness retreats, upgraded flights, cool swag and moreCompany match charitable donationsMediavine is an Equal Opportunity Employer
