What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for? We a seeking an experienced Director of Finance and Pricing with the ability to think strategically and execute tactically to lead big deals pricing and provide financial insights for VMware Public Sector team. You will work with go-to-market, contracts/legal, finance and other critical resources to drive RFP big deal pricing, FP&A and business decision support. This is a key role in enabling VMware's innovative, transformative, and disruptive technologies in edge computing, security, artificial intelligence, modern applications development, blockchain, machine learning and others for a key market segment at scale. You will play a critical role in solving customers' challenges and drive growth by utilizing your well-honed public sector pricing and financial acumen skills, including strong analytical ability as well as ease in developing collaborative relationships, skilled communications ability, and a "can-do" attitude in a fast-paced environment. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing? Your primary objectives will include the following: Develop strong collaborative relationships with Sales, Pursuit & Capture, Deal Management, Finance, and key teams to enable effectiveness Deepen knowledge and understanding of VMware's technologies and value proposition of offerings, as well as competitive differentiation. Manage large/strategic deal pricing and review processes to ensure smooth approval across various stakeholders and central point for archiving of decisions reached; effectively collaborate/interface with a team of distributed resources (Deal Desk, Revenue Recognition, Contracts, Legal, Sales and Finance resources). Lead, manage and prepare new (pre-award) business price proposals to include RFP Analysis, pricing model development, bid configurations review, and compilation of pricing source data and preparation of customer pricing formats; accountable for reviewing and providing compliant content for solicitation pricing requirements and related proposal documents, including "sign-off", verifying fully compliant pricing proposal work-products. Ensure compliance with VMware pricing and estimating procedures, advise leadership of pricing requirements/obligations and provide interpretation of RFP requirements. Effectively operate in a commercial company to accurately create winning RFP pricing strategies and participate in internal monitoring and implementation processes. Support business units on major proposals and initiatives to include Color Team reviews and non-standard requirements; become a trusted business partner by providing insights about price ramifications related to solutions, proposals and bid offerings - serve as Public Sector pricing subject matter expert to VMware corporate functions Participate in Strategic Pipeline opportunity selection, prioritization, and critical reviews Maintain current knowledge of relevant pricing procedures and practices internally and through professional development activities. Strengthening the financial management of the Public Sector Division, including identification and evaluation of risks, opportunities, and recommendations Providing business and strategic decision support including top-line growth, transition to SaaS, resource allocation and organization health Leading and mentoring junior team members What is the leadership like for this role?
