Duties

MAJOR DUTIES: Primarily responsible for generating outside sales and identifying key markets such as business, government, social and private organizations and develops sales strategies and approaches to penetrate such markets. Identifies and manages active client contact lists by cold calling, neighborhood networking, attending civic meetings and representing MCCS Quantico Food and Hospitality at various community events as well as maintaining an active membership with the local Chamber of Commerce. Attends Catering trade shows and educational seminars to stay abreast of industry trends.

Duties include prospecting for new business, both in person and via the internet and telephone. Engages in business activities that generate potential clients and promote the Club and MCCS, such as attending trade shows/bridal shows, hosting client site visits, making outside sales calls to potential clients, telephone selling, internet selling, and attending business networking events in the community. Coordinates with Food and Hospitality catering representatives and MCCS Leadership on food, beverage, services and events room rental pricing. Meets with clients, discusses requirements such as date, number of guests, occasion, and explains services offered, i.e., room, decorations, menu, entertainment, etc. Prepares client correspondence and simple event contracts.

Schedules appointments and meets clients at their business locations. Connects all confirmed leads via soft hand-off to the applicable Food and Beverage representative. Provides continuous follow up with clients to ensure maximum satisfaction. Provides timely reports to the director with respect to daily calls, productivity, sales forecast and long range sales forecast.

Develops strategic sales plan and works closely with the Director, Food and Hospitality to develop sales goals. Compare forecasts/goals with actual sales and reports on a weekly basis. Assists the Director of Food & Hospitality with planning, organizing and managing internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies.

Communicates thoroughly when handing over client to MCCS staff for administrative and detailing duties prior to the event. Represents MCCS in business networking events on installation and off-installation as needed. Follows-up with client evaluation of services rendered. Promotes catering program marketing plan. May prepare private party brochures and advertising material. May assist with catering events to include handling food, setting up tables, etc. as needed.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for assistance when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Travels to complete work assignments, and conduct or attend conferences and meetings. May work a fluctuating work schedule to complete work assignments outside of the typical work week and work hours.

This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field appropriate to sales management OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR three years' experience in hotel sales, catering or events sales or food and beverage operations. Ability to coordinate with various stakeholders to satisfy customer catering and events requirements. Skills to assist customers in planning delivery of services. Ability to prepare reports and complete simple contractual arrangements. Must be able to obtain a ServSafe Manager's Certificate within the first 30 days of employment.
