Job Description

The Washington Post is looking for an experienced reporter to join its America desk as a national correspondent with the mission of executing sophisticated enterprise stories and helming coverage of major breaking news events.

This correspondent will play a leading role in producing revelatory narratives about the forces shaping American society and help anchor The Post's coverage of some of the biggest stories around the country.

The ideal candidate is a gifted and nimble writer with a strong track record of crafting distinctive work. We are looking for a versatile journalist with a quick metabolism and a keen eye for stories across a range of subjects. In addition to writing enterprise pieces, this reporter will be called upon to help cover major breaking news, such as weather-related disasters or mass-casualty events, and must be able to write with authority, sweep and grace on tight deadlines.

We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic about working cooperatively with colleagues who specialize in visual journalism, graphics and data reporting to elevate their coverage.

This position is based in our Washington newsroom but will involve regular travel around the country.
