Job DescriptionAV/VTC TechnicianAV/IT Technology Hardware and Software DeploymentRole and Responsibilities:The Government customer requires conference center operational support services. These services include but are not limited to customer service for initial customer contact for conference room reservations and space management, AV/IT software and hardware management, and room configuration management. The NSF conference room infrastructure includes several highly specialized operational systems that have been specially configured for the NSF Information Technology (IT) and Audiovisual (AV) environment. These systems include, but are not limited to, applications and products from Crestron, and VBrick, as well as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx, Blue Jeans, and Cisco/Acano videoconferencing systems.Successfully providing services and support for this AV infrastructure will require regular training of the AV technicians on all installed systems in the NSF conference center. These are necessary and integral, mission-critical systems that are essential to NSF panel operations.Technical skills to be proficient in the use of a variety of unified communications that includes, but not limited to Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx, Blue Jeans, Jabber, and Cisco/Acano videoconferencing (VTC) systems.Manage and maintain all of NSF's Panel Center AV technology and virtual communications equipment. Using the conference room scheduling software system Reservations application, the contractor shall monitor, track, and inventory all AV equipment, projectors, polycom speakerphones, monitors, sound systems, and virtual communications equipment in the central conference rooms, always working order.Readily available virtually and/or on-site in the panel center or through control room monitoring, for in-room assistance to resolve any AV or IT problems that may arise during any virtual/videoconferencing, hybrid, or onsite meeting.Provide video recording support services for events held on-site using government-provided cameras as needed.Provide support for on-site multicast webcasting/content streaming on internal and external networks from the NSF videoconference and/or VBrick infrastructure equipment as needed.Manage and schedule the use of equipment and perform test calls or dry runs when requested.Enter daily service request tickets for all virtual, Panel Center and non-Panel Center room service requests including daily laborer activities, incidents, and troubleshooting activities into the Siebel, ServiceNow or similar NSF service management reporting system.Report any damages or difficulties to the Project Manager and the COR.In support of the reconfiguration of non-Panel Center conference rooms, inspect the required power, data, and cable connections to ensure they are fully connected and functional and finalize the room reconfigurations from the control panels.Perform routine preventive maintenance on audiovisual equipment. Preventative maintenance will include at a minimum, cleaning, adjusting, aligning, and checking all functions of each component within the systems, when required. The contractor will verify the operation of the systems. This includes minor adjustments as necessary. If major adjustments are required, the contractor will alert the COR to schedule required downtime so that repairs can be made.Other light maintenance duties as conveyed by the COR.Manage downloading/transferring software on NSF equipment and maintain UC software support.Ensure all AV equipment, videoconferences, and teleconferences are tested, connected, and fully operational.Provide technical support remotely and/or from a central control room for performing/monitoring AV/IT support to multiple rooms simultaneously.Provide user support for WebEx, BlueJeans, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, Jabber, and other assistive and collaborative technology that includes software and hardware for on and off premises (remote environments).Connect to teleconferences and virtual meetings, on behalf of meeting organizers, prior to the start of the session.Contact customers to obtain teleconference and virtual meeting connection information.Provide video recording support services for events held on-site and virtually using government-provided cameras as needed.Oversee AV services from the initial request to the conclusion of the event.Inspect the required power, data, and cable connections to ensure they are fully connected and functional and finalize the room reconfigurations from the control panels in support of the reconfiguration of non-Panel Center conference rooms on the upper floors.Make recommendations for appropriate technology based on customers needs.Enter daily service request tickets for all support activities, incidents, and troubleshooting activities into ServiceNow or similar NSF service management reporting system.Schedule Zoom webinars and meetings using government-provided Zoom accounts.Contact customers who reported negative experience on Zoom customer satisfaction survey to resolve their issues or escalate to the COR.On occasion, be asked to perform a conference-related tasks as deemed necessary and conveyed by the COR. Position Overview:Set up, configure, and operate customer VTC and AV equipment. Troubleshoot connection issues. Receive ticket information through smart phone application and complete all project and customer service tickets. Monitor all communications through central control room and provide equipment and software assistance as needed. Provide video recording support. Provide support for on-site multicast webcasting/content streaming on internal and external networks from the NSF videoconference and/or VBrick infrastructure equipment. Enter service request tickets into the Siebel or similar reporting system. Manage downloading/transferring software on NSF equipment and maintain Unified Communications (UC) user support (support for WebEx, BlueJeans, Skype for Business, Jabber) and UC software support.Minimum Required Skills:Knowledge of VTC facilities, scheduling practices, and room setupAV technicians must be familiar with industry standards-based video-conferencing and other AV and collaboration technologies and products such as Crestron, VBrick, Steelcase-Mediascape, and/or Cisco.Must have the ability to install and configure the video bridge, video recorders, control systems, control units, tuners, modulators, amplifiers, microphones (digital wireless, ceiling array, and Shure), Cisco network switches, codecs, HP & Macbook Pro laptops, Tandberg VTC equipment, and large format flat panel video displays.Must be able to troubleshoot VTC equipment and networking issues.Must be able to operate Webcasts, Web Meetings, and Webinars.Preferred Skills:Degree & Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years VTC technician experience withCisco/Tandberg/Crestron equipment (at least one technician must have VBrick experience).Certification Requirements: CTS or CTS-IContractor employees performing functions as AV/IT technicians are required to obtain and maintain certification or meet the alternative requirements. The contractor shall ensure all AV/IT technicians are Certified Technology Specialists (CTS or CTS-I) upon hire and/or have at least two years of documented work experience with Crestron and/or AV subject matter help desk who are expert in troubleshooting technical AV problems.
