The I&W provides U.S. Customs and Border Protection executive leadership and field operators with 18x7 monitoring and situational awareness of all issues concerning the Homeland borders. The I&W leverages its close working relationships with the other divisions in the Office of Intelligence, national and international operational and diplomatic CBP components, and other Intelligence Community agencies to collaborate, and coordinate intelligence of interest, ensuring the proper dissemination of threats to the Homeland.

This position supports and conforms to the mission directives, priorities, and goals established by the National Security Council, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, executive orders, Congress, as well as DHS, CBP, and OI leadership. The individual selected is responsible for applying a full range of analytical knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide intelligence reporting and production in support of operations and decision makers. This will include gathering, evaluating, and analyzing abstracts data from multiple sources, to produce finished analyses, reports and briefings. The individual will also be responsible for providing intelligence support to CBP Attaches, international officers, and other U.S. agency personnel, as well as to foreign partner organizations, in support of CBP goals, operations, and objectives.

The incumbent will contribute to short and long term planning through in-depth research and analysis regarding threats to homeland security. Through analysis of all relevant information, they will identify intelligence gaps and assist with the development of Essential Elements of Information (EEI), required to satisfy and close the intelligence gaps.

Analyzing, evaluating, and integrating data from multiple sources to assess its relevance and determine the significance to CBP.

Developing and managing a staff of junior and senior intelligence analysts, identify objectives and setting office-wide plans for conducting research and analysis on complex issues.

Directing staff in conceptualizing, planning, drafting, editing, and presenting individual analytic products, to include providing administrative and technical supervision, as well as plan and direct daily duties.

Intelligence Production: Produces assigned and self-initiated intelligence production based on thorough understanding of threats, conditions, and trends. They will be responsible for drawing meaningful conclusions and producing clear assessments, and presenting findings in written products or oral briefings to superiors, planners, and policy makers.
- These include, but are not limited to, Intelligence Bulletins, Intelligence Alerts, and daily intelligence summaries.
- Coordinate intelligence efforts and share information with other Office of Intelligence personnel, as well as the intelligence and law enforcement communities.

Qualifications required:
  • Ability to lead a dynamic, fast paced team and work independently with minimal oversight
  • Skilled in researching and analyzing all source information and intelligence; synthesize information and raw intelligence reporting; and applying sound analytic trade-craft to develop assessments.
  • Ability to learn or have knowledge of CBP, DHS, and IC databases and tools, as well as review, collate and analyze all-source intelligence and information.

    Selected applicants for a JDA are requested to fulfill the items below during the JDA:
  • Complete the DHS Training Course 15 days prior to the arrival to the JDA.
  • Complete the DHS Joint Duty Assignment Progress Plan to include:
    • Phase 1: Establish assignment objectives within the first 30 days of the JDA.
    • Phase 2: Complete a self-assessment of the duties performed at the mid-point of the JDA.
    • Phase 3: Complete a final review within the last 30 days of the JDA.
  • Complete 12 hours of professional development using Skillsoft courses, videos, and books in conjunction with the established assignment objectives for the JDA.
  • Attend each of the DHS Joint Duty Program Director's quarterly webinars (1 hour per quarter).
