Plans, directs, and implements organization safety program to ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment and coordinates manufacturing processes by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Plans and implements EH&S policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other controlling agency rules and regulations. Record, monitor, track and interpret data required for proper and timely regulatory filings and reporting. Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices including but not limited to: PPE, LOTO, fire prevention, Hazcom and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials. Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies. Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. Lead multi-discipline safety committee with emphasis on maximizing all employees. Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions. Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations. Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies. Participates on workers' compensation issues, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time. Prepares and arranges safety exhibits and material for display, promotional work, industry conferences, and exhibitions. Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs. Maintains EH&S files and records. Prepares departmental budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget. Reviews, reports, inspect and safeguards newly acquired equipment. Participate as liaison between R&D and Manufacturing. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards. Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes. Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential. Establishes operational standards, strategic planning and execution to enhance profitability, productivity and efficiency throughout the company's operations. Establish and Maintain performance metrics and participate in customer meetings Responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of and recommending alternatives for work methods, procedures, controls and staffing to achieve accurate and timely movement and processing of product. Comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Develops, implements, and monitors company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. Manage prevention of accidents and work-related injuries Leads the ongoing maintenance of facilities, equipment, and operations Assist the plant's overall preventive and predictive maintenance programs. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE ABILITY Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. List any additional language requirements: Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. MATH ABILITY Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. COMPUTER SKILLS Microsoft office suite, outlook email, Auto Cadd, database software, internet software, order processing systems, and project management.
