Overview

AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services (ASI) manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP's millions of members. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.

This Director, Account Management (Medicare) directs the management of provider relationship activities to ensure the ongoing health of AARP-branded products and programs. In this role, you will manage the team that evaluates existing engagement programs to identify improvements and measure outcomes. Also, the Director collaborates with senior management to develop strategic plans to ensure successful growth and profitability for the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, directs and motivates the daily activities of the account development manager team responsible for the Medicare products.
  • Evaluates the competitive landscape of the marketplace through research to help make recommendations for strategic decisions.
  • Influences matrix to optimize program functions, including strategic account planning and growth. Responsible for monitoring benefit planning, operations, distribution, customer service, and marketing.
  • Oversees implementation of the ASI annual operating plan through quality control management of providers' AARP product/service offerings. Ensures that the appropriate dashboard measures are evaluated, analyzed, and acted upon for success and growth.
  • Manages and enables the continued growth and improvement of the AARP products/programs and ensures the implementation of product differentiation and communications through third-party channels, including brick and mortar.
  • Develops and manages relationships with providers to facilitate the effective administration of the AARP programs to continually deliver and grow superior member value and awareness of this value.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of product development and management experience, preferably in the Medicare, health insurance industry, or a related field, with external relationship/program management experience or an equivalent combination of training/ experience related to the duties of the position.
  • Ability to identify key issues through a combination of critical thinking, analytical problem solving, and strategic thinking with the experience and the ability to exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work and manage effectively with people across functional matrix areas to gain internal respect and to build consensus with superiors, peers, and subordinates at all levels.
  • Excellent written, verbal, visual/presentation, and interpersonal ability to communicate with precision and accuracy.
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate complex information to a broad range of stakeholders, including executives.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
