As the Senior Director of Product Enablement, you will oversee our teams of Instructional Designers who produce our online training and Information Developers who own our product documentation. These critical groups combine to enable Appian's customers, partners, and learners on Appian software. You will be responsible for the growth, management, strategy, execution, go-to-market, and continuous improvement of these teams. You will ensure enablement content is developed to meet the demands of time to market, quality, content accuracy, and proper alignment with product management and overall company vision to help support Appian's rapid growth.

Successfully rolling-out technical enablement requires collaboration between numerous functional organizations and the many inter-dependencies between the various functional organizations. The ideal candidate is a relationship builder, is driven, organized and detail-oriented; excels in program / project management; thrives in an ambiguous environment; is adept at facilitating actions, identifying risks and interdependencies; helps to create accountability and is motivated by continuous learning.

To be successful in this role, you will:
  • Own Appian's Technical Enablement, its processes, artifacts, and KPIs.
  • Define a baseline for all the deliverables that will be tracked as part of new product launches or platform releases.
  • Oversee the people, processes, and technology needs of the teams.
  • Work closely with leaders in our Customer Success, Sales, Partners, and Marketing departments to understand their needs/priorities and collaborate on joint ventures.
  • Create, socialize, maintain and regularly update executives on the enablement roadmap.
  • Represent, communicate, and champion the enablement program across the business to internal stakeholders and external customers/partners alike.
  • Identify opportunity for improvements and put processes and tools in place to support continual efficiency gains.

Basic qualifications:
  • BS Degree with 10+ years of experience in training, documentation, or related enablement fields. Software product company experience preferred
  • Clear leadership and people management skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects to completion in a rapid-growth, fast-changing work environment
  • Experience with various course development and delivery methods-ILT, virtual, eLearning
  • Referable courseware design experience, including design and implementation of instructional material and supporting solution applications
  • Experience with various content development tools such as MS Word, Captivate, MadCap Flare, DITA, SVN
