The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified IT Support Assistant to join the Office of Smith IT. One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, Economist and the Wall Street Journal.

The IT Coordinator L1 is responsible for investigating all technical support issues that have been escalated from the Smith IT Technicians or delegated from Smith IT Management or Administrators. The IT Coordinator L1 has dispatch responsibility which distributes the incoming requests for service to individual team members or support groups.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED AND One year with the types of hardware and/or software to be supported. 3-5 years of technical customer support. Ability to support, identify and troubleshoot general problems with PC/AV hardware and Apple devices. Knowledge of Win/Mac OS, IE, Firefox, Safari, MS Office suite, specifically Power Point, file/print services such as Active Directory, Google (Gmail) and Lotus Notes. Candidate must have a general understanding of client server applications, networks, authentication, application packaging and imaging. Must possess positive attitude, willingness to learn and pro-actively seek continuous quality improvement of services. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent customer service skills Strong knowledge of Windows OS and MS Office products Strong troubleshooting skills Ability to collaborate with team members and willingness to share information Ability to use discretion and confidentiality with access to sensitive data and local administrative access to all desktop equipment and data in the environment for the purpose of support.
