Data & Analytics leverages business intelligence gained through advanced data analytics in order to maximize AARP's marketing and communications results. This includes using data science, data engineering, predictive modeling, and market analytics to guide data driven decision making.

As a Data Scientist, you will work with large and complex data sets to solve a wide array of challenging problems using different analytical and statistical approaches. You will work cross-functionally with other data scientists, data engineers, and campaign managers to bring predictive models to the forefront of hundreds of millions of promotable universes, building predictive models with different Machine Learning algorithms. The Data Scientist will deploy models using Databricks MLflow and Model Registration functions with regular job scheduling and full automation and help establish the vision and provide insights to improve the effectiveness of programs.

Responsibilities

  • Write code proficiently to generate answers to analytic inquiries.
  • Manage intake and output process for technical and non-technical internal audiences requesting analytic projects.
  • Perform key analytic activities (test design/evaluations, incrementality/attribution, journey analytics, etc.) to generate insights.
  • Build core data science products, including statistical models, complex reports and/or data visualizations.
  • Employ modern data science techniques, such as machine learning.
  • Utilize data engineering procedures to feature engineer, move data, and productionalize/automate products on top of latest data science and modeling advances.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • Experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL); proficiency with Python required.
  • Experience with fundamental statistical analysis and Data Science knowledge.
  • Excellent oral/written presentation skills; proficiency in preparation and presentation of proposals, analytical reports, and modeling performances.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services, Pyspark and big data preferred.
  • Proven analytical ability and strategic business and product development/management skills preferred.
  • Attribution analysis and A/B testing experience preferred.
  • In office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits

For this position, we anticipate offering a salary between $103,500.00 and $127,050.00 per year. This role is also eligible to participate in an annual incentive plan with a percentage up to 12%. Bonus eligibility is dependent upon organizational and individual performance.
