National Capital Treatment & Recovery, formerly Phoenix House, a nonprofit substance use treatment facility in Arlington, VA is looking for a full-time Assessment Coordinator to conduct assessments and intake interviews for prospective patients in multiple settings (hospitals, jails, detention centers, referral sources, etc). This is a full-time, M-F 9am-5pm, salaried position with full benefits.Assessment Coordinator: Responsible for conducting and arranging assessments and intake interviews for prospective clients. This position obtains funding information (insurance, state funding, private pay information. etc.) and verifies it as needed. This position also provides a liaison with NCTR programs referral sources.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for conducting assessments and intake interviewsWork with referral sources to ensure that admissions occur in a timely mannerAssess prospective clients for appropriateness for treatment, including consequences of chemical use and makes appropriate treatment recommendationsTeam with Clinical Manager and Development staff to keep program census at a high levelInform prospective clients and their families of the arrangements for clients' education and of the system for obtaining textbooks and assignments, school transcript, and IEP when necessaryInform funding sources of educational costs and verifies approval from local jurisdictions for client' educationProvide as an initial liaison between clinical staff, families, referral source and teachersProvide and inform NCTR residential programs of all client-related information to ensure smooth transition from local treatment to residential treatmentAssist and support parents' transition from referral and intake to program staff at admissionProvide ongoing collaboration, staffing and treatment planning with program staff regarding clients' progress as neededResponsible for assisting prospective clients and/or their families or referral sources in identifying, verifying, and arranging funding.Establish thorough understanding of the various funding alternatives available to prospective clients and how these are accessedObtain necessary information from clients/families/referral sources in order to determine funding availabilityAt times this position will be required to conduct assessments in the fieldESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepare presentations to effectively represent services offeredCoordinates and conducts tours for key referral sources.Develop new prospects and interacts with existing client relationship with current and prospective referral sources to market Phoenix House servicesWork closely with the admissions department to insure timely response and cross communication of referral activity.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OVERALL:Maintain ethical standards and continued professional growth, including:Abide by Program and NCTR policy and procedures. Oversees staff understanding and complianceEnsure all CARF standards are instituted and maintainedPromote, in public and private contacts, the quality standards and ethical practices of NCTR staffContinue professional growth by attending workshops, trainings and staff in-service trainings to increase skill and knowledge and to set appropriate example for staffMaintain professional boundaries with staff and clientsPerform other duties as assigned by supervisorQUALIFICATIONS:Master's Degree in Counseling/Human Services or related field requiredMinimum two (2) years substance abuse treatment experienceMust possess a state driver's license with no restrictions and meets all requirements of facility vehicle policyKnowledge of ASAM Criteria requiredKnowledge of 12-step recovery programs preferredExperience with third party payer authorization preferredMust be able to work with male/female, adult (18-over) and adolescent substance abuse/dually diagnosed/opiate dependent population. Must be able to work with culturally diverse populationsOrganizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks of varying difficulty and complexity so that deadlines are met and schedules are maintainedSelf-disciplined with an ability to work independently and under pressureUtilize strong attention to detail and excellent written and oral communicationMaintain professional working relationships with staff, including being able to work remotely with team membersExercise discretion in handling details of confidential natureMust be self-motivated, set own schedule and perform duties of job with minimal supervisionAbility to work with Microsoft Office software, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and WordKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Knowledgeable of the medical aspects of addiction, including dual diagnosis, and must have excellent assessment skillsPossess a thorough knowledge of various treatment methods and experience working with diverse populations.Possess a high level of organizational, communication, and leadership skills.Strong computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, record keeping and general office methodsMust have problem solving skills and a high degree of self-motivationMust be organized and able to prioritize duties and tasksPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.
