Responsibilities: We are seeking a Jr./Mid-Level System Integration and Test Engineer to join our team at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD, supporting our Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract. Peraton is the Prime Contractor on the SENSE Contract; responsible for the Operations, Maintenance, Sustainment and Systems Engineering of satellite communication systems for NASA. In this position, you will be responsible for characterizing the performance of state-of-the-art NASA ground station modems. You will support development of test code to evaluate modem performance during complex test scenarios involving multiple satellite links, the use of software tools to analyze test results and establish satellite flight dynamics. The work will also involve the integration of modems and test equipment, evaluation of RF signals, and configuration of networks.Develop test plans and procedures for hardware in the loop tests replicating complex NASA satellite communications scenarios Conduct testing and results analysis to evaluate the performance of NASA modemsMonitor and troubleshoot digital IF and baseband packets Configure and troubleshoot modem routers and switches Review requirements and interface control documentsDevelop test plans, procedures and reports Qualifications: Required Qualifications:A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or other related engineering discipline, and 0-2+ years' of related technical experience in an engineering fieldAn understanding of RF communications, various modulation and coding techniques, and signal distortionsKnowledge of or experience using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers and RF test equipmentThe ability, with training, to independently configure and operate RF test equipment: Spec An, Sig Gen, OscilloscopeExperience with a scripting language; Python is preferredExperience with any of the following: STK, MATLAB and SIMULINKExperience with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Visio and MS WordAbility to obtain a DOD secret clearance, which requires a US citizenDesired Qualifications:Proficiency with Wireshark and LinuxExperience with software radio transport protocols such as VITA-49Experience with the configuration of networksAbility to follow detailed work instructions and/or test proceduresStrong technical, analytical, and problem solving skills including the ability to learn and independently implement complex engineering algorithmsExcellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skillsAble to work both independently and collaboratively in groups Experience and knowledge of NASA's SN and NEN Networks and associated communication systems.An active Secret clearance Peraton Overview: Peraton drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy.
