The External Affairs Strategy and Engagement (EASE) team is looking for critical thinkers who are ready to challenge conventional approaches in search of better ways to manage risk and help create opportunities to enhance our reputation as a company that is advancing socioeconomic mobility. This role offers a chance to lead through "white space" thinking, inventing new ways to analyze quantitative and qualitative data and work to solve complex problems.

As a member of the EASE Community Advocacy & Risk team, you will support our core risk work (e.g. governance and policy development, process risk management, control testing, regulation applicability and risk analytics) for External Affairs. You will be exposed to exciting new initiatives at the intersection of corporate risk governance and management and community engagement. You will help create routines, deliver reporting, and improve processes that enable us to stay well managed and evolve how we think about effective risk management as a way to enhance Capital One's reputation. You will have a voice in shaping the way executives at Capital One think about risk, especially reputational risk. A successful candidate will be passionate about proactively identifying current and emerging risks by utilizing technology to gather insights, analyzing datasets, and synthesizing the evolving risk landscape.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Enterprise Services risk guides to evolve how we work as an organization
  • Oversee our risk governance and reporting routines
  • Assist with Process Level Assessments, support Control Testing/Management activities, and coordinate risk-related inputs across EA verticals
  • Develop and manage the data analytics agenda for Community Advocacy & Risk related to risk identification
  • Deliver high impact analysis that generates meaningful insights and drives actionable changes
  • Synthesize insights into compelling storytelling to influence senior leaders and key stakeholders in making the right decisions; Ensure regular executive reporting is delivered on time and with quality
  • Translate regulatory jargon and technically complex information into easily understandable language
  • Be trusted advisor and partner on all things risk management
  • Help identify new risks as the business innovates
  • This role operates in what is often a fast-changing environment. In this role, results orientation, attention to detail, and clear and compelling communication will be especially important.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of project management experience, at least 5 years of experience of process management experience, or a combination of the two


Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a compliance, regulatory, audit, legal, or risk team
  • At least 1 year of experience working with governance teams, at least one year of experience working Chief of Staff teams, or a combination of the two
  • Lean certification
  • Agile certification
  • Project Management certification
  • Business Process management certification
  • Six Sigma management certification
