We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Ultrasound Technologist to provide services at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD for the Radiology Department. In this role, you will work side-by-side with active duty military personnel. The ultrasound technologist will perform a full range of Ultrasound functions and procedures. These studies include all variances of Ultrasound imaging of the Abdomen, Pelvis, Obstetrical 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester, abdominal wall, abdominal vascular, renal Transplant, carotids, lower and upper extremity venous, scrotum, neck, and thyroid, and pediatric head and abdomen to include rule out appendicitis. Assist and support interventional procedures within the radiology department and other areas such as the operating room and pediatric gastroenterology clinic.To be a successful ultrasound technician, you should have excellent patient service and technical skills, as well as a strong working knowledge of anatomy and pathology. You should have strong problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.Minimum QualificationsDegree/Education: Successfully completed a program of Ultrasound education as recommended by the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers (ARDMS).Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).Experience:a. Minimum of two years of experience in ultrasound following completion of training to include one year in hospital experience. An entry-level career contract exemption will be considered for qualified students assigned to WRNMMC.b. Possess acquired experience which has provided familiarity with medical care, anatomy and physiology, US technology to include physics.Board Certification: All US Technologist will possess current registration as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Technologist (RDMS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, Inc. (ARDMS).Licensure/Registration: Valid unrestricted license in at least 1 state, territory or commonwealth of the US.DutiesExplaining the ultrasound procedure to patients, answering their questions, and providing support.Programming and adjusting the scanner for the specific procedure and ensuring the transducer captures images from every angle or section as needed.Deciding which still images, or sonograms, to capture and present to the Physician for diagnostic purposes.Evaluating the images for quality and interpreting the images to assist the Physicians in diagnosing and treating diseases.Presenting the images and your preliminary findings to the Physicians.Maintaining patients' records and medical notes on the ultrasound procedure they have undergone.Maintaining the ultrasound equipment and sterilizing the procedure rooms.Assisting Radiologists with vascular ultrasound procedures.Compensation and Benefits: We offer a full benefits package, competitive salaries, vacation and holiday pay.
