St.A' Andrew's is an all-residential co-educational boarding school of 315 students in grades nine to twelve, with 55 teaching faculty. St.A' Andrew's was founded almost a century ago with an unprecedented approach to financial aid and has aA' long-standing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; this commitment is woven into the fabric of our school culture.A' The Teaching Fellow Program at St.A' Andrew's offers those just beginning, or very early in, their teaching careers the opportunity to enter the classroom with close mentorship and guidance from experienced teachers in their discipline and the dean of faculty development, opportunities to study and discuss teaching pedagogy and develop reflective practice with peer fellows and teacher-leaders, and training in core competencies for boarding school faculty outside of the classroom: coaching, advising, dorm parenting, and cultivating a culture of inclusion and belonging.St. Andrew's Modern Languages DepartmentA' is seekingA' a dynamic, creative, and collaborative Teaching Fellow in Spanish. The Fellow candidate must exhibit a high level of proficiency in all of the modalities of the Spanish language"A cents € speaking, listening, reading, and writing. They should have the ability to comprehend contemporary media, both oral and written, in Spanish. The Fellow candidate should have a strong understanding of the social, political, historical, and economic realities of the Spanish-speaking world; a lively interest in learning pedagogy; a commitment to developing their own cultural competence; and a deep dedication to meeting the needs of diverse student learners. Candidates should be creative, resourceful, optimistic, and collaborative.The position will also involve full participation in the extracurricular and student life programs of this residential community.While the Teaching Fellowship is for a single year, reappointment to the faculty is possible based on an evaluation of the fellow's performance in the classroom; the athletic, extracurricular, and residential life programs; and the school's needs. Teaching fellows receive a stipend of $32,000, plus insurance benefits, and on-campus housing.RESPONSIBILITIESThree class sections; one or more sections may be co-taught with an experienced teacher, and observation of experienced teachers will be built into the fellow's schedule;Two or three seasons of athletic coaching, or two or three seasons of a major, non-athletic extracurricular program;Dormitory duty twice a week;Weekend duty once every four weekends; andParticipation in school committees and activities.JOB REQUIREMENTSInterested candidates should have a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Spanish or a related field, or possess demonstrable fluency in the language.Candidates must have a passion for working with and living in community with adolescents.A' PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSCandidates with the experience to coach"A cents € particularly boys or girls squash, boys or girls tennis, girls crew, girls basketball, boys lacrosse, or volleyball will be given strong consideration in this search.
