POSITION SUMMARY:The Senior Firmware Engineer will apply technical knowledge and experience to guide and execute the design, development and implementation of hardware and firmware embedded devices in MSD biomarker instrumentation and other engineering projects. This role will partner with various supporting groups to facilitate product definition and integration. This position may develop into a mentoring role for junior level engineers. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A cents € cents Develop boot firmware (BSP), power up test, and control firmware for microcontrollers based devices using assembly, "A< oeC' and "A< oeC++'A cents € cents Perform verification, test, debug and failure analysis of microcontroller based devices using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and test instrumentsA cents € cents Develop test firmware, test software, hardware interfaces and test procedures for microcontroller based devicesA cents € cents Perform process improvement/development analysis and executionA cents € cents Serve as technical source to cross functional team members A cents € cents Write theory of operations, requirements, and user documentationo Document intellectual propertyA cents € cents May teach, train, develop and/or mentor junior level engineers A cents € cents Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirementsEXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:A cents € cents BS in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or related fieldo MS in an engineering discipline preferredA cents € cents Experience in the design and development of embedded firmwareo 7 years hands-on direct design experienceo Minimum 3 years experience in medical devices or similar regulated industryA cents € cents Experience with programming tools/languages such as VBA/C/C++/C#/Java or similar experienceA cents € cents Experience in an ISO or cGMP environment preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:A cents € cents Strong design fundamentals and analytical backgroundo Logical problem solving and demonstrated ability to organize and move project tasks forward in an orderly and structured fashionA cents € cents Demonstrate ability to independently design and execute project planning, troubleshooting, optimization and validation A cents € cents Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills are required o Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of project statuso Ability to effectively train and develop junior level engineersA cents € cents Understand all phases of a firmware product lifecycleA cents € cents Understanding of ISO and/or FDA cGMP standards and their documentation requirementso Excellent documentation skills, technical writing and presentation skills requiredA cents € cents Proficiency in MS Office suite and engineering computing software is required (graphics editing, general statistics, etc) A cents € cents A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task in an environment with changing prioritiesPHYSICAL DEMANDS:This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.WORK ENVIRONMENT:This position is performed in a traditional office environment, laboratory setting, and/or light-manufacturing facility.
