The Columbia Child Development Center is a Reggio-inspired Faith-based Full Day preschool for children ages 18 months to 5 years old. CDC teachers foster children's development of heart and mind through play and an emergent curriculum based on inquiry and children's interests.We are currently seeking Lead, Classroom and Assistant teachers for the Fall and for Aftercare. The positions are year-round with great benefits. The right candidate strongly believes in the abilities of young children to create, express, and drive their own inquiry. He or she will have the ability to cultivate trusting, caring relationships with children, families, teachers, and the local community.The candidate must be warm, caring and able to relate well to both children and adults and must exhibit aa passion to work with young children and a joy in their play. An undergraduate degree, experience working with early childhood aged children, and an interest in our Reggio-inspired program are desirable qualifications for this essential rolesQUALIFICATIONS All Positions:Pass Federal and State background checks.Hold US Citizenship or be authorized to work in the United States.Ability to be physically active throughout work hours to include, but not limited to - regularly lifting up to 40 pounds, engage in repetitive movements, bending and standing easily and quickly, as well as kneeling and sitting on the floor for extended periods of time.Lead Teachers:CDA, Associates, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.Minimum of two years' experience working with young children.Classroom Teachers:Associates, CDA or Bachelor's degree,Minimum of one year experience working with young children.Assistant Teachers:High School Diploma, CDA or Associates.Minimum of one year experience working with young children.COMPETENCIES:Teamwork - Contributes to building a positive team spirit, prioritizes success of the team above individual interests, and supports colleagues' and students' efforts to succeed.Interpersonal Skills - Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills and is able to build and sustain positive, productive relationships. Solves conflicts in cooperative manner; assumes accountability for own actions.Communication Skills - Has excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish (as necessary).Cultural Sensitivity - Has a strong commitment to diversity, with respect and sensitivity to cultural and educational differences. Understands cultural and linguistic barriers to education and has experience overcoming these for student success.Physical Fitness - Ability and willingness to meet the physical demands necessary to work with young children.Knowledge of Developmentally Appropriate Practice.RESPONSIBILITIES:Based on the position, the candidate will be responsible for, or supportive of the supervisory teacher, in:Organizing and scaffolding developmentally appropriate, inquiry based project work across content areas (language, cognitive, social-emotional and physical, as well as literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts, etc.).Embrace the mission, philosophy and core values of the school and the church applying them in daily practice.Creating and maintaining a learning environment that is organized, safe, and responsive to children's changing interests, abilities, and needs.Guiding children's behavior in positive ways, striving to build a classroom community, and maintaining a positive social atmosphere at all times.Documenting the children's learning to inform planning, instruction and assessment, as well as to make the learning visible for parents, staff, and visitors.Cultivating parent-partnerships by demonstrating understanding and respect toward parents; actively engaging families in children's learning; collaborating with families to promote children's development in all areas and support learning at home.Contribute to a culture of learning and reflection in the school by continuing to read and research information on best practices, striving to integrate these into daily practice.Evaluate instructional effectiveness and modify approaches based on feedback, reflection, and assessment.Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
