Senior Analyst/Associate, Energy Investment Banking

Summary:

The Analyst/Associate will be a critical member of the Energy Banking team that plays an integral role in supporting marketing activities as well as the execution of debt/equity capital markets, loan syndications and advisory transactions for corporate and sponsor clients. The individual will be responsible for providing industry and company-specific research, and assist in the preparation of financial models, deal related marketing materials, internal approvals memos and other analytics to support new business generation. Skills will be developed through significant exposure to senior and mid-level bankers, as well as external clients including corporate management teams and principals at financial sponsors. The individual will also be expected to sit for the Series 79 and 63 licensing exams in order to work on securities offerings (if not already attained).

General Responsibilities include, among others:
  • Creating and maintaining marketing materials and pitch books
  • Creating and maintaining comps databases that track information regarding industry trends, company profiles, and transaction details
  • Creating and maintaining transaction specific models and analysis (i.e. merger models, valuation analysis, acquisition financing models, upstream/midstream corporate cash flow models, NPV analysis)
  • Keeping the Energy Banking team updated with regular distributions of transaction overviews and deal reports
  • Drafting industry, sector, and company-specific reports and presentations for both internal use and for client meetings
  • Supporting deal execution during the capital markets, loan syndications and advisory processes by being responsible for the creation of marketing materials, managing external client and lender requests, maintaining contact and questions/diligence lists, etc.
  • Actively participating in due diligence sessions
  • Assisting on special projects to support new business generation
  • Coordinating with the Energy Underwriting and Credit teams on transactions


Basic Qualifications:
  • Either a Bachelor's degree or Military Experience
  • At least 1 year of banking experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Developed communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Significant analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong technological proficiency including mastery of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated financial modelling proficiency
  • 2+ years of banking experience preferred (syndications and / or DCM experience a plus) or MBA
  • Ability to provide managerial support for more junior team members
  • Strong academic record and strong interest in finance
  • Formal Credit Training a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and proficiency in multi-tasking is required
  • Team player as much of the work is team-oriented, but also a self-starter with the ability to complete assignments individually
  • Must have a strong interest in client contact, given significant interactions with corporate management teams, principals from financial sponsors as well as members of the general investor community
