Now Hiring for the 2022-2023 School YearPositionThe Auburn School is actively recruiting for a Behavior Support Specialist to join our team serving our campus in Silver Spring, MD.ResponsibilitiesThe Behavior Support Specialist will be expected to: Provide leadership and direction to the positive behavioral support program Develop, train and implement Positive Behavior supports, identify strategies for supportive teaching and strengthen adaptive behaviors Provide guidance to staff in the form of training, consultation, and monitoring of the implementation of Positive Behavior supports. Communicate with parents and professionals regarding student behavior, strategies, and progress Train staff to collect data using daily progress sheets Collect & analyze student data daily to guide behavioral/social decision-making. As part of the Admissions Committee, assist in determining acceptance of new students by providing evaluation and assessment of prospective students during their visits Train school-based staff on effective crisis management strategies, including de-escalation and aggression management techniques using Right Response methodology Lead and/or support during crisis intervention Assist in the development of school-wide policies and procedures addressing student behavior expectations Collaborate with teachers on specialized strategies for use directly within classrooms. Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team that includes teachers, social thinking and learning specialist, and OT Lead student support team meetings weekly with each classroom Participate fully as a school staff member: attend faculty meetings, parent meetings and professional development opportunitiesDesired QualificationsWe are seeking a highly motivated professional with a proven track-record of success. Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, or related field. Master's Degree preferred Minimum of three years experience in special education or related field with experience in direct service to children using Applied Behavior Analysis techniques Actively seeking or have already obtained certification as a Certified Behavior Analyst (BCaBA or BCBA preferred) Previous certification in Crisis Intervention methodology Strong organizational skills, patience, flexibility, compassion, and passion for special education Experience training staff preferred Technologically adept and enthusiasticCompensation and BenefitsHighly competitive compensation, commensurate with experienceFull benefits, including health, dental, retirement, life and disability insurance.Our OrganizationThe Auburn School is a private day school with a powerful social mission: Grow the social and academic potential of bright students with social and communication challenges.
