NBC4 is looking for a freelance Digital Content Producer that will be responsible for day-to-day execution of NBC Washington DC's digital news strategy, working with other local digital staff to ensure the offering is consistently up-to-the-minute, differentiated, impactful and relevant to a new generation of local users. The role combines acute attention to detail, rapid response, editorial judgment and flair, and consistent day-to-day execution and project-management responsibilities within a 24/7 newsgathering operation. This position is remote and will be required to work weekends and some weekday shifts as needed. Responsibilities include:Gather, edit, package and publish local news content - focusing on News, Weather and Traffic - to the station's digital platformsWrite text articles, publish video clips and edit image galleries according to the local editorial "voice"A' Program key related index pages for editorial impact, audience appeal and timelinessGather and package relevant content around key stories from a range of external sources, feeds and content typesExecute all publishing workflows for video, images and text including publishing to social media platformsEnforce editorial style guides, standards and practicesParticipate in efforts to hit aggressive daily benchmarks for the volume and frequency of local content publicationWork with corporate editorial staff and editors in other local markets to share stories and resources across all NBC websitesAssist in identifying freelance contributors and managing of content partnershipsBasic Qualifications Minimum 3 years' experience working in print, online or television news in a medium to large sized marketExperience working with social media, marketing products using social networking sites or creating content that lives on such sitesExperience working with content management systemsBachelor's degree in Journalism or equivalent work experienceMust have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United StatesMust be at least 18 years of ageMust be available to weekends, evenings and holidays as requiredDesired Qualifications Excellent news instincts combined with the ability to write succinctly and with flairAbility to work on decisively on multiple tasks and stories simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentAbility to react to breaking news, updating the news as stories evolve and writing intros and leads to video online contentAbility to work in a team and across all departments ensuring digital formats that are accurate without typos or errorsProficiency in video editing and production using Adobe Premiere to package and export engaging video contentDemonstrated knowledge of AP Style writing and guidelinesProficient in Social Media platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook, Storify, Tumbler, etc.Proficient with Adobe Photoshop ElementsExperience using data visualization formats such as storytelling tools a plusExperience with Dalet, Clickability, Social Flow, Stratus and Vibrint systems a plusDetail orientedSpanish language skills a plusA' NBCUniversal is one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies in the development, production, and marketing of entertainment, news, and information to a global audience.
