This position is available for a target start date of August 2022.The Speech-Language Pathology Program is housed in the Division of Education, Health, and Social Work. The Program is CAA accredited and currently offers a graduate degree in speech-language pathology. Program faculty are highly committed to preparing students for a variety of clinical interactions with a specific focus on training students to meet the needs of underserved, multicultural populations through a focus on issues of disparity in health concerns and allied health provider response.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTeach courses in the speech-language pathology program, specifically any of the following courses: Pediatric and Child Language, Sociolinguistics, Phonetics, Diagnostics, Articulation, and Phonological Disorders, and/or Language Disorders;Work closely with the assessment team to monitor data system development and data collection, analysis, and reporting to University stakeholders and to accreditation and other external agencies, as well as use data for decision-making in the Program;Maintain a level of scholarly engagement that includes publication, presentation, and leadership on committees internally and externally;Establish annual goals and objectives which are congruent with the University's strategic goals and the College's strategic initiatives; andWork closely with the Division Chair and Division program directors and coordinators to establish and accomplish University accreditation and ASHA CAA accreditation goals.Minimum Job RequirementsDoctorate (Ph.D.) in Speech-Language PathologyCurrent clinical certification in speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)At least 3 years of experience in the field of Speech-Language Pathology District of Columbia Licensure or eligibility for a DC License in speech-language pathology;Higher education teaching experienceRequired CompetenciesDemonstrated excellence in teaching and clinical instruction;Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;Outstanding communication skills;Ability to engage with diverse groups and show sensitivity to variations across age, gender, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, language, culture, national origin, and prior training and educational experience;Knowledge of the application of evidence-based assessment and treatment practices in communication disorders that cover the span and scope of contemporary practices with both child and adult populations; andWorking knowledge of CAA policy, training, accreditation, and certification formation to ApplicantCollective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.Employment Benefits: Selectee will be eligible for health and life insurance, and sick leave and will be covered under the University of the District of Columbia' s retirement plan (TIAA).Equal Opportunity Employer: The District of Columbia Government is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
