Senior Human Resources Business Partner (Hybrid)
Job Summary: We are looking to add an HR Business Partner (HRBP) who will align business goals with employees and management for our internal teams located in the US and Canada. The HRBP is both a strategic and hands-on role that provides full cycle HR support to assigned lines of business and supports the payroll function. In this role you will be part of a five-person HR team, reporting to the SVP of HR in our Centreville, VA office. Position is hybrid; therefore, there is a requirement to be within a commutable distance to our office.Duties and Responsibilities:HRBP:Act as a strategic partner by providing trusted, independent counsel to the business group as a leader with HR expertise and perspective to include HR policy guidance and interpretation; performance management guidance; productivity and retention initiatives; and employee engagement analysis.Act as the single point of contact for a designated business group that addresses issues pertinent to HR and organizational alignment/effectiveness, and/or leadership capabilities.Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.Establish a communication cadence with leaders of each business unit to understand the needs of each unit and how they tie into the overall needs of the business; to include providing guidance on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.Manage and resolve employee relations issues; conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations. Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (eg, coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).Lead implementation of HR programs within the business group.Manages, communicates and tracks the business group leaves (FMLA, Disability, etc). Payroll Administration:Update payroll records by reviewing, confirming, or entering changes in areas such as exemptions, insurance changes, deductions, PTO, status, and pay.Accurate and timely domestic multi-state and international payroll processing for bi-weekly, semi-monthly and off-cycle pay frequencies, in coordination with ADP Comprehensive payroll team. Produce payroll related reports, quarterly tax reporting and annual tax reporting from ADP and various state agencies. Responsible for ensuring all non-exempt employee's timecards are approved to process payroll timely, adjust employee timecards and validate data as needed. Research, troubleshoot and respond to a wide range of inquires related to payroll. Education and Experience:Bachelor's Degree and minimum five (5) years of human resources experience.Minimum one (1) year experience in payroll administration required.HR and/or payroll experience within Canada preferred. Experience in a multi- state environment required.PHR/SPHR certification desirable.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Self-Starter with track record of producing results in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work independently and requires minimal direction in achieving goals, yet also maintains strong interpersonal and collaboration skills - is a team player.Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and application of HR principle concepts, practices and appropriate employment laws (EEO, ADA, FMLA etc.).Experience with federal, state and local employment laws.Proven record of ability to effectively communicate to all levels of management, both internally and externally (presentation, verbal, written, etc.).Ability to analyze and diagnose issues, potential risk to the organization, develop alternative solutions, recommend and implement an effective course of action while exercising good judgment and commitment to fairness and honesty.Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.Excellent interpersonal skills and experience building relationships within the organization.Must have the ability to discuss sensitive and confidential information with a sense of emotional intelligence.Work Environment:The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in an office setting, at an individual work station, using telephone and computer.Physical Demands:Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the day.Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer/copy machine.This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office.The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone.Avenu Summary: Avenu provides local governments with ways to achieve more predictable revenue that supports growth, fuels modernization and ensures compliance with mandated but underfunded programs.
