Job Overview: The Compounding Pharmacy Technician will assist the pharmacist with providing safe and appropriate pharmacy services to our patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of Pharmacy Solutions, the state's professional standards, and other regulatory entities. The Compounding Technician works under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, working in the compounding lab room to compound medication. A compounding Technician is experienced in all aspects of medication compounding and plays a significant role in the coordination of patient services.Duties and ResponsibilitiesFollow all company policies and proceduresKeep equipment operating by following operating instructionsUpdate job knowledge by participating in training opportunitiesEnhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new anddifferent requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishmentsDemonstrates ability to perform nonsterile compounding per strict USP 795/800guidelinesDemonstrates proficiency with following directionAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt with change of workflowProperly use, calibrate and maintains equipment needed in making of compoundsSampling batches for quality testing. Executes required in-process product qualitychecks and documents accuratelyPerform miscellaneous inventory of consumables to ensure proper stockOperate, clean and sterilize aseptic compounding equipment and compounding areasMaintain housekeeping standards in the compounding areasPerform any other duties as assigned by supervisorTraining of other staffEnsure all calculations on compounding log sheets are accurate and correctTracking, ordering, and receiving orders of suppliesFollow all SOPs, USP and all other safety and company policies, double checkcalculations, record compounding procedures, lot and expiration of ingredients.Coordinate with other pharmacy team members to compound preparations andexecute quality assurance procedures, following standard operating proceduresEnsure all compounds are prepared in accordance to the master formulas and inaccordance with USP, USP , and USP. Responsible for inspection, maintenance, cleaning, and sterilization of all laboratory equipment, instruments, utensils, and work surfaces necessary/required for the preparationsMonitor and record inventory of chemicals, materials, consumables, and other required items.Cleaning of all work areas, including work surfaces, equipment, floors, walls, etcRequirements and Qualifications1 year of experience as a certified Pharmacy Technician RequiredHigh School Diploma or equivalentCurrent and good standing National Pharmacy Technician Certificate CPhT1 year of sterile compounding lab or non-sterile compounding lab experienceExperience with Compounder/PK Software is a plusExperience with compounding creams, capsules, and troches a plusAbility to cope with varied levels of workload and multiple tasksStrong time management and organizational skillsExcellent communication skills, both orally and writtenWillingness to be a team player and promote a positive team environmentExcellent attention to detailFlexible and proactive to meet varied patient and company needsSelf-motivated and able to work independentlyStrong interpersonal and people skillsAble to read, write, and speak English properly, other languages a plusAbility to perform simple pharmaceutical calculations for individualized prescriptions.Must be able to meet physical demands which may include light lifting.
