Manager; Warehousing and Logistics Marketing Statement:

WMATA is one of America's Premier Transit Authorities and serves our Nation's capital impacting the lives of millions of commuters and visitors each year. WMATA has an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader looking to play a role in helping shape the future of Metro's Supply Chain Warehousing and Logistics Office as Manager; Warehousing and Logistics.

The Supply Chain Warehousing and Logistics (SCWL) team supports the warehousing, distribution, inventory control, and logistics needed to keep the buses, railcars, and facilities in service throughout the region. The candidate for this position will lead a group of SCWL's Warehouses and Storerooms. The ideal candidate facilitates continuous efficiency improvements for WMATA's Supply Chain and instills a culture of customer fixation, aiming for the achievement of excellent customer service and high operational quality and safety standards, while inspiring and rewarding an atmosphere of best practice sharing among staff members and peers.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills to implement best practices to drive continuous process improvement and work towards perfect order fulfillment. This candidate must have the ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals and move initiatives efficiently, with the highest level of standards, which will be one of the keys to success.

Minimum Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or related field
    • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a high school diploma/GED and four (4) years of supply chain management experience will be considered

Experience
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of diversified experience in all facets of supply chain management, to include at least of two (2) years of supervisory management and five (5) years in warehousing and logistics environment.

Job Summary

The Manager Warehousing and Logistics ensures safety and service levels are effective and efficient for assigned warehouse(s) and/or functional areas within the Office of Supply Chain Warehousing and Logistics (SCWL). The incumbent proactively collaborates with a staff of Supply Chain Supervisor(s), Specialist(s) and Associate(s) to achieve desired outcomes. The incumbent confronts complex problems that affect SCWL's operations and customer service delivery and supports staff members in developing innovative solutions to enhance performance. The incumbent facilitates continuous efficiency improvements for WMATA's Supply Chain and instills a culture of customer fixation, aiming for the achievement of excellent customer service and high operational quality and safety standards, while inspiring and rewarding an atmosphere of best practice sharing among staff members and peers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Manages, coordinates, and monitors activities of assigned warehouse(s) and/or functional area(s) within Supply Chain Warehousing and Logistics (SCWL). Develops standard operating procedures; identifies and enforces safety regulations within the warehouse; and implements programs to ensure the safety and optimal performance of the workforce.
  • Interprets big data and delivers results that keenly drive productivity and efficiency towards departmental goals.
  • Reviews work forecasts and determines productivity requirements to build and deliver productivity plans. Partners with other managers to balance labor utilization.
  • Monitors warehouse(s), inbound/outbound operations, property disposal and/or functional processes to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, risk management, and internal controls and to ensure a high quality of operations is maintained.
  • Investigates and performs root cause analysis of customer complaints or service issues. Responds to and resolves department and/or personnel concerns and implements corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence of any problems.
  • Leads and inspires team members to deliver improved performance levels within area of responsibility. Facilitates optimal employee safety, employee engagement, performance leadership, talent & succession management, and training & development.
