Terumo Medical Corporation is comprised of two strategic business divisions: Terumo Interventional Systems and Terumo Medical Products.Job Summary:The Product Development Laboratory Technician II position is responsible for self-sufficiently supporting the development of devices as part of the product development process. The position is also responsible for supporting the prototyping on next generation concepts and supporting the preparation of lab for the introduction of new product pilot lines under minimal direction.Job Details:1. Associate is responsible to follow requirements of TMC Quality System; including but not limited to: document/data control, compliance with procedures, and change control practices.2. Operate, maintain and troubleshoot complex equipment to facilitate the creation of prototypes in support of the product development process. Typical machinery includes welders, coilers, braiders, lamination machines, tipping/forming machines, swaging equipment, thermal ovens and coating machines.3. Assist in developing, inspecting, testing, and refining new product concepts and processes.4. Perform engineering testing on prototypes, pre-production, and/ or final design products. Testing performed typically includes: Mechanical testing (Instron), lubricity/durability testing (OakRiver), packaging / shipping distribution, dimensional testing (CMM, Digital measuring microscopes, Keyence, laser micrometer, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, pin gauges, rulers, protractors), visual inspections, leak testing (Uson, Pressure gauges), Etc.5. Assist product development teams in performing verification builds and maintaining inventory controls of components needed for builds.6. Perform training of new associates on the use of equipment, inspection techniques and tests.7. Use good documentation practices. (Maintain lab notebook, datasheets, and other quality records)8. Ensure laboratory and equipment are organized and maintained.9. Support other lab and department operations tasks as needed.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Requires a logical thought process and decision-making ability based upon quality criteria, engineering criteria, testing results, and product requirements. Effective communication and organizational skills. General computer skills Basic ability to keep neat, accurate, and complete records and logs. Mathematical knowledge and aptitude, including algebra and utilization of sampling plans/statistical charts. Ability to operate and troubleshoot complex manufacturing equipment. Ability to use testing equipment (ie calipers, micrometers, microscope, optical comparator, Instron, Laser Mic, Lubricity Tester, etc.). Ability to follow written test methods, protocols, and SOP's. Requires the ability to solve basic technical problems and recommend solutions.
