The contractor shall:Plans, executes, and arranges laboratory experiments, new techniques and procedures; and performs laboratory techniques relating to scientific research.Create Manage electronic databases animal tissues, antibodies, reagents etcManage laboratory equipment eg servicing and maintenance, development of training protocols Develop laboratory safety protocols, manage training and related recordsProvides insights and expertise and recommends new strategies and approaches.Prepare and manage animal ethics applications and establish local processes to ensure adherence to approved project requirementsEnsure adequate supply of laboratory reagentsOrganize and store all chemicals and laboratory reagents according to safety requirements Organize and store all chemicals and laboratory reagents according to safety requirements Manage chemical biological waste procedures local processesMaintain animal records database, perform mouse genotyping and recordingAssist with management of after-hours emergencies eg equipment failureOrganize lab meetings seminarsAssist in training of new staff and students Assist in establishing new laboratory protocolsAssist others in the team as required to optimize the Units research effortPrepares and maintains documentation of test results.Develop protocols for lab equipment and new techniques.Independently plans, implements, and organizes all activities related to laboratory function.Create/ Manage electronic databases (animal tissues, antibodies, reagents etc.)Coordinates the financial management and has accountability for monitoring the operating budget.Manage laboratory equipment (eg servicing and maintenance, development of training protocol)Assists with the development of laboratory policies and procedures.Develop laboratory safety protocols and trainingAssists with hiring staff and adjust workload of staff to meet deadlines.Preparation and management of animal ethics applicationsCoordinates the training of new staff.Ensure adequate supply of laboratory/ surgical stocksPerform laboratory research, record and analyze data.Waste chemical and biosafety management (local processes)Projects equipment needs.Organize animal records/ databaseProvides technical expertise.Assist with management of after-hours emergencies (eg equipment failure)Develops and maintains appropriate control and quality assurance procedures.Development of new protocols to support Sections mission Assist in training of new staff and studentsOrganize Section meetings/ seminars and external guestsREQUIREMENTS.
