Staff Accountant (Construction)W.C. Spratt, Inc. is an established sitework/underground utility contractor seeking a motivated and experienced Staff Accountant with proven leadership skills who will play a hands-on role managing a small team, as well as all accounting processes, financial planning and reporting, internal controls, job costing and budgeting.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.Manage accounting staff of 2-3.Timely, accurate reconciliation and closing of month-end/year-end of accounting modules.A/R billing and reconciliations.Cash Management.Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual schedules to include investment, uncompleted contracts, gross profit, overhead, fixed asset, depreciation and loans.Prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax returns.Prepare and analyze Work-In-Progress reports and job cost analysis reports.Meet with senior and project management to review job status and performance against budget.Analyze actual vs. expected results, identifying the cause of a variance or trend.Preparation and coordination of external audits and reviews.Coordinate timely completion of CPA review and audit of year-end financial statements.Coordination of Worker's Comp audit/General Liability audit.Renewal of general liability, auto, property/umbrella insurance policies, etc.Monitor actual WC/GL insurance payroll exposures in relation to estimates.Claims administration - insurance vs. self-pay.Preparation of personal BPOL, HVUT and other annual returns.Maintain fixed asset register and record monthly entries for depreciation, additions and disposals.Special projects and assistance with strategic planning.Skills, Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in accounting; CPA or CMA preferredBackground in construction accounting.Experience with construction accounting software; Working knowledge of Sage 300 CRE preferred.Seven + years of hands-on accounting and managerial experience.Strong working knowledge of GAAP.Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.Excellent analytical and organizational skills.Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite.Compensation and Benefits Summary:Status - Full-Time ExemptBase Salary-Commensurate with industry and individual qualifications.Other Benefits - Medical/dental / vision insurance; EAP, paid vacation, paid sick leave; paid holidays; 401k and an ESOP (company-sponsored retirement plan).
