PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES The Accounting/Financial Analyst position reports to the Vice President, Operations and is responsible for, but not limited to, maintaining the day-to-day Accounting and Finance functions, accruals, financial statement preparation, and performing general functions, as required. For the right person willing to excel in this job role, this position has the potential for growth and expanded responsibilities. General ledger transaction recording and maintenance Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements for management Assist with the annual budget, business planning and audit process Monitor & track company/department budget variances & business metrics Prepare and review monthly expense/commission reports for accuracy; with the ability to communicate and resolve issues. Bank reconciliations for depository accounts Reconcile balance sheet accounts; reviewing for input accuracy and prepare monthly reports and journal entries, as needed Perform accounting requirements for compliance projects Develop understanding of key financial contract (software licensing) terms & conditions, and ensure accurately applied to financials including revenue recognition according to GAAP Where required provide support and analysis for sales bid activity, marketing and sales analytics and performance Prepare annual 1099 s Perform other related duties and responsibilities as may be requested by the VP, Operations Required Qualifications Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) will be considered. Proficient in QuickBooks Online (3 years minimum experience) Extensive knowledge of GAAP Minimum 3 years Accounting/Financial Analyst experience (SaaS business environment a plus) Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (Experience with the Zenefits HR platform a plus but not required) A proven self-starter, proactive with a positive attitude; also demonstrates high moral character, integrity and respect for others Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify issues/opportunities and implement solutions Ability to work across disciplines to resolve issues Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment Highly organized and detail oriented with mathematical proficiency Able to complete tasks accurately and timely with minimal supervision Strong verbal and written communication skills. Your own writing samples will be required upon request. Thrives in a collaborative, team player virtual office environment Ability to interface well with staff and external contacts of the authority Proven ability to maintain confidentiality (you will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement) Strong organizational skills A PLUS FOR THIS POSITION BUT NOT REQUIRED: Financial analytical skills including: Research Forecasting Problem-solving Data mining Data and metrics interpreting Reporting Budgeting and financial planning Written and/or verbal communication of all of the above Additional Information Location: Remote from your home office (Approved Stable/Safe Environment for maintaining confidential company information) with local travel within the Maryland tri-state area. Position Type: Full time with a 90 day probationary period.
