Sr Associate Process Manager, Enterprise Abandoned Property

Summary:

Every year millions of properties and accounts with financial institutions become unclaimed because of a lack of activity or contact with the owner. Examples of such properties include checking or saving accounts that are inactive, cheques that are not cashed, safety deposit boxes that are dormant, etc. State laws stipulate the transfer of unclaimed properties to state unclaimed property departments, which then become custodians of the property until the property owner steps forward to claim them. Anyone can locate their unclaimed properties for free on www.unclaimed.org

Our team's mission is simple - we attempt to engage customers that have unclaimed properties at Capital One, or otherwise transfer the ownership of those properties to the state for safekeeping. This is an important mission that not only ensures Capital One delivers on its regulatory obligations but also safeguards our customers' interests
.

This role on Capital One's Abandoned Property team is responsible for collaborating on project teams and broader enterprise initiatives to represent business for changes that may impact department processes. The role will support the delivery of our well-managed agenda by monitoring, reporting and planning process improvement or redesign initiatives, and making recommendations on changes. In addition this role will collect and analyze data for supporting recommendations and develop and manage formal process documents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in cross-functional project teams, including projects driven by other parts of the organization, to provide input, liaise with training, and partner with groups on execution efforts.
  • Collaborate on larger initiatives, including representing the department on broader change control forums for input and to represent department interests.
  • Curate department subject matter knowledge by developing and maintaining process documents (e.g. process maps, procedures, and other artifacts) for new and existing processes
  • Draft, test and revise work instructions, gain relevant approvals and ensure regular reviews take place.
  • Collect, analyze and measure process data on the effectiveness of business processes; correct issues or escalate if controls are not working as planned.
  • Communicate updates with internal customers on new or existing processes; may provide training to users on process updates or rollouts
  • May develop project plans to execute process development and/or re-engineering.
  • May perform process or parts of the process as needed.
  • May manage other associates.


(This position is considered a part-time W@H position. Candidates must live within approximately 100 miles driving distance of a Capital One office and be comfortable coming in person whenever required with no less than 24 hours notice)

Basic Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of process management, risk management or project management experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 1 years of experience in Retail, Commercial or Small Business Bank Operations
  • Business Process Management (BPM) or equivalent certification
