Junior Special Assets Officer, Principal Associate

Job Description:

Supports Special Assets Officers ('SAOs') who are managing a portfolio of stressed or distressed Cash Flow, ABL or Real Estate loans and treasury management services (including deposit relationships). Jr SAO helps strategies to maximize recovery by providing analytical support including financial statement spreading, collateral analysis, and projection modeling. Jr SAO helps to evaluate customer relationships to determine a divestiture or retention plan and may assist in identifying opportunities to restructure and/or cross sell Bank products to maintain customer relationships where appropriate. Together with SAOs, clearly present updates on deal strategy and progress on resolution to the business senior leadership team ('SLT').

Responsibilities:

- Monitors financial performance, helps to establish action plans to correct problem issues, monitors collateral value and provides continuous diligence to mitigate risk of loss to the bank.

- Financial modeling to support decision making related to debt restructurings.

- Advocate for the Bank's interest within lending syndicates

- Maintain the bank's proprietary portfolio tracking system with financial and customer information to support real time decisions by SAOs and SLT.

- Consults with inside/outside legal counsel to 1) protect Bank's security and collateral; 2) negotiate waivers and forbearance agreements; and 3) document transaction restructurings in conjunction with workout strategy.

- Work with Accounting and Finance functions to ensure proper treatment and reporting of workout loans, including help with estimating impairments and/or charge offs.

- Responsible for reporting and portfolio analysis related to Criticized loans

- Participate in portfolio reviews and Watch List reviews

- Perform quarterly Impairment Analysis to determine loan and collateral/company value through multiple methods including discounted cash flow analysis

- Ad hoc projects to support the Special Assets Group ('SAG').

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 2 years of commercial loan underwriting experience or at least 2 years of financial analysis experience or at least 1 year of commercial loan underwriting and at least 1 year of commercial loan workout experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Business (MBA)
  • At least 2 years of commercial loan underwriting experience
  • At least 2 years of loan workout experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in Google Suite
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills
