Job DescriptionThe Restoration Crew Leader will lead the restoration team to implement and maintain restoration projects with staff and volunteers to support our mission of clean water and strong communities. The incumbent will coordinate the day-to-day implementation of tree plantings, tree bed creation, pavement removal, and green infrastructure projects. The Restoration Team Leader will serve as the organizer of in-ground projects and lead daily work of the restoration field crew. This person will coordinate with the Community Engagement Manager on the integration of projects with volunteer support. This position reports to the Restoration Project Manager, RPM, who coordinates project design, implementation, materials logistics, approvals, and supports scheduling. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead Team Implementation Project - 90%Team LeadershipPlans sequencing with Sr. Restoration Technician and Restoration TechnicianCoordinates daily and project workflowOccasionally operates heavy machineryOrganizes temporary or seasonal contractors or staff on daily workPlanningSupports RPM in scheduling and planning for restoration project implementationPurchases supplies and tools within budget as directed by RPMCoordinates daily work flow of team and modifies schedule based on goals as set by RPMTracks project completion and data reporting to RPM as directedImplements restoration projects and associated maintenance with Restoration Technician and Sr. Restoration TechnicianTree PlantingsTree Bed CreationPavement removal projectsConservation landscaping and rain gardensCistern installationGreen Infrastructure RetrofitsDocument's implementation progress to RPM and other lead staff on projectsCompletes daily work progress reports to RPMInputs and collects GIS data in field or coordinates the collection and quality of data collectionOperate skid steer and excavator to remove concrete and place treesSupport pavement removal projects Drives work vehicles and work trailers while maintaining a DOT physical (to be provided by Blue Water Baltimore) Volunteer Events and Engagement - 10%Attend planning meetings for volunteer events for planting and maintenance with Community Engagement Manager and RPM Support Community Engagement Manager with setup and breakdown for eventsStaff Volunteer Events and leads training of volunteers at events and ensures quality of volunteer workPerform outreach within target communities for upcoming projects and eventsQualificationsMinimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Knowledge of landscaping, construction, and/or horticultural operations at the crew and leadership levelsCurrently possess a valid Maryland driver's license and DOT Physical Card Experience in the construction, environmental, or landscaping industries Ability to read and understand plans and designs Ability to operate skid steer and excavator at intermediate proficiency Ability to safely work around marked utilities and heavy machinery Ability to log data pertinent to their duties when directed and to maintain all application protocols and regulations Knowledge of Microsoft office and Basic GIS Experience in leading small field crews 2-5 members Competencies & Success Factors Critical Thinking/Problem Solving.
