We are seeking an experienced individual to work as a Laboratory Manager at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. The contractor shall: Plans, executes, and arranges laboratory experiments, new techniques and procedures; and performs laboratory techniques relating to scientific research. Create Manage electronic databases animal tissues, antibodies, reagents etc Manage laboratory equipment eg servicing and maintenance, development of training protocols Develop laboratory safety protocols, manage training and related records Provides insights and expertise and recommends new strategies and approaches. Prepare and manage animal ethics applications and establish local processes to ensure adherence to approved project requirements Ensure adequate supply of laboratory reagents Organize and store all chemicals and laboratory reagents according to safety requirements Organize and store all chemicals and laboratory reagents according to safety requirements Manage chemical biological waste procedures local processes Maintain animal records database, perform mouse genotyping and recording Assist with management of after-hours emergencies eg equipment failure Organize lab meetings seminars Assist in training of new staff and students Assist in establishing new laboratory protocols Assist others in the team as required to optimize the Units research effort Prepares and maintains documentation of test results. Develop protocols for lab equipment and new techniques. Independently plans, implements, and organizes all activities related to laboratory function. Create/ Manage electronic databases (animal tissues, antibodies, reagents etc.) Coordinates the financial management and has accountability for monitoring the operating budget. Manage laboratory equipment (eg servicing and maintenance, development of training protocol) Assists with the development of laboratory policies and procedures. Develop laboratory safety protocols and training Assists with hiring staff and adjust workload of staff to meet deadlines. Preparation and management of animal ethics applications Coordinates the training of new staff. Ensure adequate supply of laboratory/ surgical stocks Perform laboratory research, record and analyze data. Waste chemical and biosafety management (local processes) Projects equipment needs. Organize animal records/ database Provides technical expertise. Assist with management of after-hours emergencies (eg equipment failure) Develops and maintains appropriate control and quality assurance procedures. Development of new protocols to support Section's mission Assist in training of new staff and students Organize Section meetings/ seminars and external guests REQUIREMENTS.
