Job Summary: The Registered Nurse is accountable for providing professional nursing services and patient care in a cardiologist office. This position is responsible for performing the duties of an office Registered Nurse as well as acting as a clinical resource for the medical practice. As an accountable professional, the Registered Nurse exercises autonomy (the right to undertake a specified action), authority (the power to implement action), and control (the ability to enforce the action in an ongoing and consistent manner) in order to ensure these excellent patient outcomes. Professional accountability is expressed in five areas: practice, quality assurance, competence, research, and resource management. Responsibilities: Observe and record patient behavior Abstracts patient records via the EMR as part of daily chart prep. Perform non-imaging diagnostic tests (cardiac stress testing and holter/event monitor) Monitor patients receiving anticoagulant therapy Perform EKG's Develops and maintains a working knowledge of all equipment needed to perform duties Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate. Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications. Prepares equipment and aids physician or nurse practitioner during treatment of patient. Oversees medical supply inventory, expiration dates on drugs and vaccines and disposes of outdated medications. Responds to emergency situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocol. Maintains crash cart and defibrillator. Order clinical supplies as necessary. Demonstrates a willingness to perform the duties of othe department personnel when workload requires. Qualifications/Requirements: Experience: Minimuim of 2 years as a Registered Nurse, required. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, currently licensed in the State of New York, or permittee. Membership in a professional organization suggested. Licenses / Certifications: New York State Registered Nurse license required BLS; ACLS certification. Other: Basic knowledge of nursing theory and practice. Knowledge of appropriate technology and practice standards for area of responsibility. Demonstrates sound clinical skills; knowledge of Hospital structure, objectives and standards of practice, positive communication skills. About Us: WMC Advanced Physician Services PC
