The Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, VA seeks a Laboratory Specialist. This position is to serve as laboratory specialist and clinical service coordinator for Regenerative Medicine Service. Qualified candidate is to perform laboratory functions culturing mesenchymal stem cells and progenitor cells for tissue engineering and repair in a GLP setting. Specific therapeutic targets include joint, tendon and ligament injuries. Other responsibilities include general laboratory organization and maintenance and client communications. A qualified candidate will be responsible for the following under the guidance and supervision of the supervisor: client communications, sample acquisition and shipping, general laboratory protocols for tissue processing and cell culture, equipment maintenance, following GLP laboratory policies, inventory management and ordering supplies. Techniques utilized include: tissue processing from animals, sterile procedures and aseptic technique, primary cell culture, RNA and DNA purification, gel electrophoresis, and PCR.
